FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Approximately 190
student-athletes from various sports assisted last week with
Northern Arizona University’s Welcome Week, helping new and
returning students move into the dorms and residential housing on
campus.
“It’s a great away for us to make a connection with
the new students that are moving into Flagstaff and NAU for the
first time,” said NAU swimming and diving coach Andy Johns,
who volunteered along with members of his team. “The parents
helping their kids move in are so appreciative of the help that it
makes the work not seem too tough. As a parent who moved my own
daughter into her dorm all by myself a few weeks ago, I know how
hard it can be. It’s just a great way for our athletes to
make instant connections with the new freshmen, and we enjoy
helping out.”
Representatives from men’s and women’s basketball,
cheer and dance, men’s and women’s cross country and
track and field, men’s and women’s tennis, football,
women’s golf, soccer, and swimming and diving all assisted
with move ins and with working information booths across
campus.
