Cherisse Kutyreff was hired as the Director of Sports Medicine in September of 2013. She is starting her ninth year at Northern Arizona University after previously serving as a graduate assistant and then assistant athletic trainer. As Director of Sports Medicine she oversees the healthcare of NAU Football and Golf and the operations of the Department of Sports Medicine.
During her time at NAU, Kutyreff has also worked with Track and Field and Cross Country and Women's Basketball.
In 2012, Kutyreff was honored by the College and University Athletic Trainers Association with the New Horizon Award. In 2013, the NAU Athletic Training Education Program awarded her the Tom Lyle Award for Athletic Training Excellence. In 2015, Kutyreff was selected to serve as a facilitator for the NCAA Career in Sports Forum. Kutyreff has served as a representative on the National Athletic Trainers Association Young Professionals Committee and is an active member of the AZATA and RMATA.
Kutyreff is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification and is an Arizona Licensed Athletic Trainer.
Kutyreff is a native of Los Alamos, N.M. and earned her bachelor of science in athletic training in 2008 from New Mexico State University. She completed her master of education in education leadership in 2010 at NAU.
