Nilsson won four NCAA Championships in her career. She was named the 2006 NCAA Division I Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. She won the mile at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships by more than two seconds in 4:37.78, then returned to the track 90 minutes later to win the 3,000-meter run in a personal-best 9:06.61. She was also the 2005 NCAA and Big Sky Conference champion in cross country and 2003 indoor 1,500m national champion. She finished her career with four school records, including the mile, 3,000m and distance medley relay indoors and 5,000m outdoors. She was a nine-time Big Sky Conference Champion on the track.
