FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona senior safety Blair Wishom has been named the College Sports Madness Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, announced today by the website. It is the first weekly honor for Wishom this season.
Wishom came up big for the Lumberjacks on defense the entire game at Southern Utah, but especially in the last 30 seconds of the game. With the Thunderbirds attempting everything in their play book to get into scoring position with time winding down and the game on the line, Wishom came out of nowhere, intercepted Aaron Cantu's pass and ran the ball back 52 yards into the end zone for his first career pick-six.
Wishom' s touchdown turned NAU's three-point lead into 10 points, leaving the Thunderbirds with 10 seconds left on the clock and their chances of earning the victory gone.
Wishom finished the game with six tackles, in addition to the pick-six.
