FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona University will hold its fall commencement ceremonies today in the Walkup Skydome and as part of the newest group of alumni, 21 Lumberjack student-athletes will officially earn their degrees.

IRVING, Texas (Dec. 3, 2014) – The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced today the names of the 17 faculty athletics representatives who will be honored as part of the 2014 NFF Faculty Salutes, presented by Fidelity Investments, honoring the significant contributions of faculty athletics representatives across the nation. Football Falls to Southern Utah 22-14 in Regular Season Finale
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona (7-5, 5-3 Big Sky) fell to Southern Utah (3-9, 3-5) in the regular season finale. The victory gave the Thunderbirds possession of the HintonBurdick Grand Canyon Trophy, after NAU won it last year. Today’s loss snapped a nine-game regular season win streak at home for the Lumberjacks dating back to 2012.

NAU Stunned on the Road at North Dakota, 30-28
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – No. 22 Northern Arizona (7-4, 5-2 Big Sky) was stunned on the road when it fell to North Dakota (4-7, 2-5 Big Sky) 30-28 after a last second field goal by the home team. UND hit a 35-yard field goal with four seconds left in the game to halt NAU’s comeback attempt at the Alerus Center.

This year’s inductees included All-American football player Dan Finn, national champion and Olympian Lopez Lomong, Big Sky Soccer Player of the Year and three-time all-conference honoree Cee Cee Odorfer and the Big Sky Tournament Champion 1999-2000 men’s basketball team.

Austin Hasquet Named 2014 NFF National Scholar-Athlete
IRVING, Texas – Northern Arizona's Austin Hasquet has been selected as a 2014 NFF National Scholar-Athlete, presented by Fidelity Investments, and a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy. Hasquet was chosen from among 169 semifinalists for this award and will be honored at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner, alongside the 2014 College Football Hall of Fame Class, on Tuesday, December 9th. Hasquet is the first honoree in NAU history to receive the honor.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Northern Arizona Athletics Department posted a school-best 85 percent Graduation Success Rate, as released by the NCAA national office Tuesday. It was the highest of the three state universities, and tied for the best in the Big Sky Conference.

Lumberjack Football Opens Fall Camp
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Northern Arizona football opened up fall camp 2014 at the Walkup Skydome this afternoon. The Lumberjacks are coming off a 9-3 record and a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoff appearance. NAU finished second in the Big Sky a year ago, and have been voted No. 25 in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision Coaches Poll released Monday.

Women’s Tennis and Swimming & Diving Rank in Top 10 Percent

Jerome Souers Earns Salute to Excellence Award
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Northern Arizona head football coach Jerome Souers was one of the recipients of the Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr., Salute to Excellence Award presented by the Fritz Pollard Alliance. Souers was honored along with 14 other NCAA head coaches. In his 16th season with the Lumberjacks, Souers led NAU to a 9-3 overall record and 7-1 Big Sky finish to place second in the conference. The Lumberjacks earned an at-large bid to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoffs to advance to the post season for the first time in 10 years.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona University and Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Lisa Campos is proud to announce the 2014 NAU Athletics Hall of Fame Class who will be honored at this year’s Hall of Fame Football Game on Nov. 8 versus UC Davis. Comprising this year’s class is two-time All American football player Dan Finn, three-time All-Big Sky First Team soccer selection Cee Cee Odorfer and the 1999-2000 men’s basketball team who advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
