NAU Picked to Finish Fifth in the Big Sky Preseason Polls

OGDEN, Utah – Northern Arizona was picked to finish fifth in the Big Sky in both the coaches' and the media polls released today at the Big Sky Kickoff.

Eastern Washington, the defending champion, was picked to win the league. Montana was voted second, followed by Montana State, Cal Poly, and then the Lumberjacks. The top five were the same in both the coaches' and media poll.

NAU finished second in the Big Sky last season with a 7-1 conference record. The Lumberjacks went undefeated at home during the regular season, and have not lost a conference game at home since November 2012.

The Lumberjacks are coming off a 2013 season that saw NAU advance to the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs for the first time in 10 years. NAU led the FCS in defensive touchdowns with eight scores.

NAU's first conference contest will be on Sept. 27 when it welcomes Cal Poly to the Walkup Skydome.
