STATS – Northern Arizona true freshman Joe Logan has been rushing his way past opposing defenses, as his talents have landed him on the FCS STATS Freshman Player of the Year Watch List.
Logan, a native of Buckeye, Ariz., has dominated the run game accumulating 571 yards in just six appearances. Add to that 139 kickoff return yards and 29 receiving yards, and the 5-foot-11 back has tallied 739 all-purpose yards this season.
Logan has registered three 100-plus yard games, including a career-high 172 yards against New Mexico Highlands. He ranks first in the Big Sky in yards per carry at 8.5 and second in rushing yards per game at 95.2. Logan has scored four touchdowns this season and has five runs of 33 or more yards.
Logan's spark came on his first-ever collegiate carry when he ran the ball for 37 yards and the score. He followed it up with a career-long 72-yard touchdown run on his second carry.
The reigning FCS STATS Freshman Player of the Year just so happens to be NAU's Case Cookus. The quarterback threw for 3,117 yards and 37 touchdowns with an accuracy of 69 percent to take home the crown last year.
