FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona (6-9, 3-1 Big Sky) men's basketball returns to the Walkup Skydome this week for Big Sky play. The Lumberjacks will face Eastern Washington on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., and then host Portland State on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Lumberjacks are in a three-way tie for second place in the Big Sky standings. NAU is 1-0 at home in league play and 2-1 on the road. The Lumberjacks are on a two game win streak after cruising by Southern Utah Monday night in a 70-36 defeat over the Thunderbirds. Junior transfer Quinton Upshur leads NAU in scoring with an average of 14.1 points per game as NAU leads the league in scoring defense, three-point field goal percentage and blocked shots in Big Sky games.

Breaking Down Eastern Washington

Eastern Washington (7-8, 2-2 Big Sky) has won the last four meetings. NAU is 20-8 versus the Eagles in Flagstaff. The last time NAU beat EWU was on Feb. 16, 2011, when the Lumberjacks came away with an 83-74 victory. The Eagles are 7-8, 2-2 in league play, including a two game win streak. However, the Eagles are 2-7 away from home this season. Tyler Harvey leads the Eagles with an average of 20.3 ppg - second in the league. The Eagles average 74.5 points per game as a team for the second best average in the league.

Breaking Down Portland State

The last time Portland State (6-7, 1-3 Big Sky) and NAU played each other, the Lumberjacks won 79-72 on Feb. 7, 2013. NAU is 11-7 versus the Vikings in Flagstaff. NAU and PSU split the series last year with both teams winning on their home court. The Vikings are 6-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play as they are searching for their first road win of the season. Tim Douglas leads the Vikings with an average of 15.2 ppg - seventh in the Big Sky. The Vikings average 73.4 points per game as a team - fourth best in the Big Sky.
