FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Head Coach Jack Murphy has announced that the Northern Arizona men's basketball program has landed a big time transfer in KJ Bluford from Iowa State.
"We are excited to have KJ join the NAU basketball family and look forward to him having a great finish to his college career here in Flagstaff," said Murphy. "He is committed to working hard in the classroom on the court and I am confident that he is the type of young man that can continue to elevate our program."
Bluford joined the Cyclones this season after transferring from Northeast Community College in Nebraska. He played in seven games during the first semester, averaging 2.7 points in 5.4 minutes per contest.
Prior to Iowa State, Bluford averaged 17.8 points per game at Northeast Community College, where he drilled 113 3-pointers in one season. The Baltimore, Md. native scored over 1,000 points in his two seasons at Northeastern, where he was a Second Team All-Region XI selection. In high school, Bluford was a two-time all-conference pick where he averaged 17.7 points and 4.1 rebounds as a senior. The First Team All-Nebraska Community College selection will sit out the remainder of the 2014 season.
