The game was played on the Navajo Nation of Tuba City
The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 40-24 lead and were never really in danger as they led the whole way through. Three 'Jacks had six points at the half to take a 40-24 edge and then NAU returned in the second half to outscore BenU Mesa 51-39.
NAU's victory was definitely a team win as 12 different players contributed in the scoring spree. The Lumberjacks shot 43.5 percent from 3-point range and 72.2 percent free throw.
The Lumberjacks out-rebounded BenU Mesa 47 to 35 and edged the Redhawks in bench points 43 to 33. NAU's largest lead of 30 points came with 6:33 remaining in the game.
The Redhawks were led by Devin White's 16 points. Troy Conley (15), Jorge Cano (12), and Monnard Brown (12) all finished in double figures for BenU Mesa (3-4).
NAU has a few days off before it returns to the court on Sunday for a road contest at the University of Washington. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. MST.
