LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Northern Arizona men's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule in Las Vegas at the UNLV Easley Invite where the Lumberjacks had two players in consolation final matches in freshman Fabio Tomasetti and junior Jordan Gobatie.
Gobatie was able to come away with the Flight Two Consolation title defeating UNLV's Jeff Vongman 6-3, 6-4.
Northern Arizona was able to pick up nine wins throughout the weekend in singles play. Every Lumberjacks player picked up a win in singles play defeating tough competition from UNLV, Idaho, Grand Canyon and Seminole State College.
Northern Arizona came out of the gates hot winning six matches in the first day of play. Junior Trevor Unger defeated Alex Brown from Seminole State College 7-6 (1), 6-2. Junior Alan Barrios was able to pick up a win over Tyler Bridges also from Seminole State College by a score of 6-3, 6-1.
Tomasetti was able to make it to the Flight One Consolation final after dropping his first match of the tournament. Tomasetti stormed back to win two straight matches and appear in the finals.
This was the final tournament for the men's fall schedule where head coach Ki Kroll has seen improvements from every player on the team.
The Lumberjacks will now get some time off before they begin their spring on schedule on Jan. 24 at the University of Arizona.
