FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After seven tough non-conference matches, the Northern Arizona men's tennis team will head out on the road for their first Big Sky road trip this season against Idaho State and Weber State beginning on Saturday, Mar. 1 in Pocatello.
This will be the 38th meeting all-time between Idaho State and Northern Arizona with last year's meeting went in favor of Idaho State with a 4-3 win in Flagstaff. Weber State and the Lumberjacks will be going head-to-head for the 53rd time. Last year, the Wildcats were able to come away with the 5-2 win over the Lumberjacks.
Coach Kroll Quote of the Week
"We're all looking forward to starting Big Sky Conference play this weekend for what should be a real shootout. The team has been working very hard and I believe we're ready to go. It will be important for everyone to play to their potential because we are playing away against two very good teams. Our non-conference play has prepared us for this weekend, so we'll see soon enough where we stand as a team."
Start of Big Sky Play
These two matches against Idaho State and Weber State will be the first two Big Sky matches for the Lumberjacks this season. The Lumberjacks were picked to finish eighth in the Big Sky Preseason Poll, while Idaho State was picked to finish fifth and Weber State was predicted to finish fourth.
The Lumberjacks started the season with a 3-4 non-conference record before beginning Big Sky play. Last year, Northern Arizona was only able to manage three wins in non-conference play all season. With three non-conference matches left this season, the Lumberjacks have already reached three wins this season.
