FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After grabbing two wins in the Big Sky, Northern Arizona men's tennis freshman, Alexandre Locci has been named this week's Big Sky Player of the Week.
Northern Arizona's freshman Alexandre Locci was a key member of the Lumberjacks two-match winning streak in the Big Sky. Locci went unbeaten against Big Sky opponents Montana State and North Dakota and it started off by taking down Montana State who was picked to finish third in the Big Sky. Locci did not finish his doubles match with Jordan Gobatie against the Bobcats due to the Lumberjacks already clinching the point but Locci and Gobatie were up on Montana State's Niklas Brandes and James Harry 6-5 when the match ended. Locci did get a win though against the Bobcat's Javier Morillas with a 6-2, 7-5 score at the No. 2 position.
Locci ended the weekend picking up two wins against North Dakota. The native of France got the 8-2 with Jordan Gobatie over Ryan McGuigan and Connor Oberle. The win clinched the doubles point for the Lumberjacks over North Dakota. Locci grabbed the Lumberjacks final point over North Dakota with a tough three-set match at the No. 2 position over McGuigan. After dropping the first set 6-4, Locci stormed back to take the final two sets 6-2, 10-8 to put an exclamation point on a great weekend for the Lumberjacks.
