FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After clinching a spot in the Big Sky Championships last week, the Northern Arizona men's tennis squad will have one more match to conclude the memorable regular season in Cedar City to face Southern Utah.

Series History

Southern Utah and Northern Arizona face off for just the second time. Last year was the first meeting between the Lumberjacks and the Thunderbirds and NAU came away with the 7-0 victory in Flagstaff.

Coach Kroll Quote of the Week

"Everyone is looking forward to our final conference match. Hopefully we can build on our momentum and carry into this match and in the Big Sky Championships."

Lumberjacks Make Big Sky Championships

It has been a memorable season for the Northern Arizona men's tennis team as the Lumberjacks have earned a spot in this year's Big Sky Championships in Sacramento for the first time since 2011. After sweeping its Big Sky road trip last week against Eastern Washington and Portland State, NAU secured a seat in this year's tournament.

The Kroll Effect

Coach Kroll has made an immediate impact in his first season at Northern Arizona and this program has made a complete 180 from last year. The Lumberjacks were picked to finish eighth in the preseason poll and Kroll and the Lumberjacks have proved the doubters wrong as NAU sits in fourth place in the Big Sky with 11 wins; that is the most wins NAU has had since the 2002 season.

Fighting for Third

The Lumberjacks still have something to play for in their final match against Southern Utah despite having already clinched a spot in the Championships. NAU, currently at 6-3 in the conference, has a shot to move into third place ahead of Montana State (6-2), who they have defeated this season. The Bobcats have to face Eastern Washington and Montana to close out the season.
