  • 26 NAU Student-Athletes Named to Big Sky Spring All-Academic Team

    OGDEN, Utah – Big Sky Conference office announced their All-Academic Teams for the spring 2015 season with the Northern Arizona for men's and women's outdoor track, men's and women's tennis and women's golf teams having 26 student-athletics honored.
  • Summer 2015 Coaches Caravan Dates Announced

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University Athletics Department will be rolling through the state of Arizona during its annual NAU Coaches Caravan tour and hopes that Lumberjack Nation will come out in full force when it hits your city. The caravan will make its first stop in San Diego on Monday, June 29 before making several stops in the Grand Canyon State.
  • NAU Student-Athletes Give Back in Record Numbers During 2014-15 Year

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Last year, Northern Arizona University student-athletes performed an incredible 4,378 total community service hours setting a new department record. During the 2014-15 academic year, Lumberjack student-athletes outdid themselves resetting the record with over 5,000 hours out in the Flagstaff community and the greater Northern Arizona region in an outstanding department-wide effort to give back.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – In just his second year at Northern Arizona, head coach Ki Kroll has established a winning culture for the Northern Arizona men’s tennis team and in 2015 it led them all the way to the Big Sky Championship match. An identity has been created for the men’s tennis program and through the player’s hard work and determination, NAU made it all the way to the championship match after pulling off two upsets in the quarterfinals and in the semifinals.
  • NAU Men Win Second Consecutive Big Sky All-Sports Trophy

    OGDEN, Utah – Northern Arizona men have captured their second consecutive Big Sky All-Sports Trophy, the conference office announced Tuesday. The Lumberjacks went into the outdoor track championship with the lead, and maintained it after a tie for first place capturing their fourth straight outdoor title.
  • NAU Athletics Celebrates 42 Student-Athlete Graduates This Weekend

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – In total, 42 Northern Arizona University student-athletes will receive their degrees from the university this weekend during the Spring 2015 commencement ceremonies held on campus yesterday and today. Including the 21 student-athletes who participated in the Fall 2014 commencement ceremonies, the NAU Athletics Department produced a total of 63 graduates for the 2014-15 academic year.
  • Jordan Gobatie Named First Team All-Big Sky

    OGDEN, Utah – After an 11-13 record and an appearance in the Big Sky Championship, Northern Arizona men’s tennis senior Jordan Gobatie has been named First Team All-Big Sky. In just two seasons at NAU, Gobatie helped lead the program to back-to-back appearances in the Big Sky Championships along with a memorable run in the Big Sky tournament this season.

  • NAU Falls to Idaho in the Big Sky Championship

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Northern Arizona men’s tennis team made it all the way to the Big Sky Championship after pulling off two upsets in the quarterfinals and semifinals that set up a matchup with Idaho in the finals. NAU’s season came to an end as the Lumberjacks fell to the Vandals 4-2.
  • No. 6 Seed NAU Defeats No. 1 Seed Weber State in Big Sky Championships Semifinals

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – After a memorable win in the Big Sky Championships quarterfinals over the No. 3 Montana the Northern Arizona men’s tennis team would have to pull off another upset in the semifinals against the No. 1 seed Weber State in order to advance to the championship. In the regular season Weber State defeated NAU 4-3 in Flagstaff but it was a different story on Saturday as the Lumberjacks walked away with the 4-1 upset over Weber State to advance to the Big Sky Championship.
  • No. 6 Seed NAU Defeats Defending Big Sky Champions Montana

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Northern Arizona men’s tennis team pulled off the upset against the defending Big Sky Champions Montana in the Big Sky Championships Quarterfinals. NAU entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed and the Lumberjacks had to go up against the Grizzlies, who were the No. 3 seed, and had defeated the Lumberjacks this season 6-1 but on Friday it was a different story as NAU took down the Griz 4-2 to advance to the semifinals.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the second straight season under second-year head coach Ki Kroll, the Northern Arizona men’s tennis team has reached the Big Sky Championships. This year, NAU enters the tournament as the No. 6 seed and the Lumberjacks will be looking to pull off the upset in the quarterfinals as they face the No. 3 seed Montana.
  • NAU Ends the Regular Season on a High Note

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona men’s tennis team ended the season sending off their seniors with a win over Portland State in their final home match of the season. Both seniors, Kester Black and Jordan Gobatie, won both of their matches as the Lumberjacks took down the Vikings 6-1 to end the regular season with a 9-12 record and a 7-4 record in the Big Sky.

    SEDONA, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona men’s tennis team controlled its own destiny this weekend having to win one of two matches at home in order to clinch a spot in the Big Sky Championships. On Saturday, the Lumberjacks (8-12) delivered that win with a 7-0 sweep over Southern Utah for their sixth win in conference.

The Lumberjacks currently sit in the final spot of the Big Sky Championships and with one win against the Thunderbirds or the Vikings NAU will head to Sacramento, Calif. for the second straight season.

The goal of the career fair is to give student-athletes a head start in exploring their options after graduation. From internships to graduate assistantships to full-time jobs, the student-athletes were able to speak with 25 different companies about their career path.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – On Wednesday, NAU’s brightest student-athletes were honored at the 37th annual Golden Eagle Awards held at the High Country Conference Center. The annual luncheon recognizes Northern Arizona University’s student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average in the classroom. Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc., honored 191 Lumberjack student-athletes for their scholastic and athletic accomplishments.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona men's tennis team pushed first-place Weber State to the brink in their Sunday afternoon matinee face-off, but the Wildcats clawed out a 4-3 win. NAU's rally efforts from a 3-1 deficit come up just shy, as it fell to 5-4 in the Big Sky and 7-12 overall.

  • NAU Drops 4-3 Nail Biter to Sacramento State

    SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Northern Arizona started off its final roadtrip of the season with a matchup against Sacramento State. Looking to snap a two-match losing streak, the Lumberjacks were able to come away with the doubles point but it wasn’t enough as the Hornets defeated the Lumberjacks 4-3 to fall 7-11 this season and 4-3 in the Big Sky.
  • NAU Heads Back on the Road to Face Sacramento State

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona men’s tennis will conclude its final road trip of the season with two matches in California. To kick off the trip, the Lumberjacks will face Big Sky opponent Sacramento State and then NAU will play its final non-conference opponent of the year in No. 71 in the country UC Davis.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The NAU Athletics Department, spearheaded by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), held its Student-Athlete for a Day on Tuesday for over 200 children throughout the northern Arizona region. The important Student-Athlete for a Day returned for the first time in three years and was a fun-filled day for both the Lumberjack student-athletes and the local youth.
  • NAU Ends Four-Match Week with a Loss at Montana State

    BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Northern Arizona men’s tennis team concluded its four-match week in Bozeman, Mont. for a matchup with Montana State. The Bobcats now have the most wins during conference play (8-2) as they defeated the Lumberjacks 5-2. NAU is now 7-10 this season and 5-2 in the Big Sky.

    MISSOULA, Mont. – The Northern Arizona men’s tennis team saw its five-match winning streak snapped by Montana losing to the Grizzlies 6-1. The loss is NAU’s first defeat in the Big Sky Conference, moving to 7-9 this season and 5-1 in conference.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Make it five wins in a row for the Northern Arizona men’s tennis team (7-8) as they defeated Idaho State 6-1 at Continental Country Club. The Lumberjacks move to 5-0 in the Big Sky remaining in first place.
