NAU Athletics Wins Back-to-Back Big Sky Presidents’ Cup
OGDEN, Utah – For the second straight year, Northern Arizona Athletics has captured the Big Sky Presidents’ Cup presented by Red Lion Hotels. NAU finished first in overall in athletic points for the second consecutive year, in addition to claiming the Big Sky Men’s and Women’s All-Sports Trophies in May.

NAU Captures Men’s and Women’s Big Sky All-Sports Trophy
OGDEN, Utah – Northern Arizona has captured both the men’s and women’s Big Sky All-Sports Trophies, the conference office announced Monday. The Lumberjacks went into the outdoor track championship with the lead, and a sweep by the men’s and women’s teams this past weekend secured NAU the win on both sides. The sweep is the first true sweep by any school since 2000-01.

Women’s Tennis and Swimming & Diving Rank in Top 10 Percent
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Arizona women’s tennis and swimming & diving were both honored by the NCAA for earning Public Recognition Awards, based on their most recent multi-year Academic Progress Rate. These awards are given each year to teams with APRs in the top 10 percent in each sport. This is the second straight year women’s tennis has received the honor.

Forty-Three Student-Athletes to Receive Degrees This Weekend
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Forty-three Northern Arizona student-athletes will receive their degrees from the university this weekend as part of the Spring 2014 commencement ceremonies. When adding in the 15 student-athletes who participated in the Fall 2013 commencement ceremonies, the NAU Athletics Department produced a total of 58 graduates for the 2013-14 academic year.

Women's Hoops Brings in Another Experienced Transfer
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Adding experience to their 2014-15 roster was a goal for the Northern Arizona women's basketball team and they took another step in that direction on Tuesday with the addition of Monique Mulder, a transfer from New Mexico Junior College. Mulder, a 5-foot-3 point guard, will be a junior this upcoming season after two years at NMJC.

Lumberjacks Receive NLIs from Mesa CC Duo for 2014-15
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team is injecting huge drops of national championship pedigree for the 2014-15 season with the additions of Madi Austin and Mariah Willadsen on Wednesday. Austin and Willadsen were two of the top-three scorers on the Mesa Community College squad that claimed the NJCAA Division II National Championship last month following a 28-5 season, a school record for victories. Both players will be juniors in the fall.

Jacobsen, Smith Named Golden Eagle Top Scholar-Athletes
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University Athletics Department held its 36th annual Golden Eagle Awards Tuesday at the High Country Conference Center to recognize its student-athletes for their stellar work in the classroom. Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc., honored 199 Lumberjack student-athletes for their scholastic and athletic accomplishments. The award recognizes student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average.

Amanda Frost's Talents Shine Bright in Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In her first step towards pursuing a post-collegiate basketball career, Amanda Frost seized her opportunity and took full advantage of it at the Nashville Women's International Showcase last weekend. Over the two-day combine, Frost ascended to the cream of the crop and displayed her abilities in front of professional basketball evaluators from both in the states and overseas.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Amanda Frost, the school’s single-season scoring record holder, will take her talents to Nashville, Tenn. this weekend in pursuit of her potential professional career on the hardwood. Frost will showcase her abilities at the 2014 Nashville Women’s International Showcase during the NCAA Women’s Final Four this Saturday and Sunday in front of scouts from both the WNBA and overseas in addition to FIBA agents, clubs and general managers.

2013-14 NAU Women's Hoops Recap - The Foundation is Set
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Second-year head coach Sue Darling had a tall task ahead of her heading into the 2013-14 season. The Northern Arizona women's basketball team returned just three players from their squad a year ago and they were picked to finish 10th out of 11 teams in the preseason Big Sky poll. Although the Lumberjacks finished shy of their goal of reaching the Big Sky Championships, this season proved to be another step in the right direction under Darling's tutelage.

Women's Basketball Trio Honored by College Sports Madness
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The all-conference awards continue to roll in for senior Amanda Frost, junior Erikka Banks and freshman Brittani Lusain as the Northern Arizona women's basketball trio was honored by College Sports Madness on Wednesday. The website's Big Sky All-Conference honors come two days after the three Lumberjacks were rewarded by the Big Sky Conference office for their play this season.

Frost, Banks Earn All-Big Sky, Lusain Voted Outstanding Frosh
OGDEN, Utah – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team collected three honors on Monday with the announcement of the Big Sky Women's Basketball All-Conference teams and individual award winners as voted on by the league's head coaches. Senior Amanda Frost was voted as a member of the All-Big Sky First Team while junior Erikka Banks was named Honorable Mention. Freshman Brittani Lusain earned the conference's Outstanding Freshman award.

Women's Hoops Drops Season Finale in Montana, 83-66
MISSOULA, Mont. – Senior Amanda Frost and freshman Brittani Lusain each scored 25 points and junior Raven Anderson ripped down a career-high 18 rebounds, but the Northern Arizona women's basketball team could not overcome a halftime deficit in an 83-66 season finale loss to Montana Saturday afternoon. The Lumberjacks finish the season 9-20 overall, a one-game improvement from last season, and 6-14 within the Big Sky Conference.

Frost Nets 38 Points in NAU's Loss at Montana State
BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Northern Arizona women’s basketball team shot 55 percent from the field in the second half and 49 percent for the game, but the Lumberjacks fell victim to a Montana State that was firing on all cylinders in a 99-85 decision. With the loss, the Lumberjacks were eliminated from contention for a Big Sky Championship berth and will wrap up their season on Saturday at Montana. NAU falls to 9-19 overall, 6-13 in conference play with one game to play.

Women's Hoops Needs Sweep in Montana for Big Sky Bid
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s basketball team hits the road for the final time this season, heading to the state of Montana needing a sweep and some help to get into the position for the final spot in the Big Sky Championships. The Lumberjacks will play at Montana State on Thursday and at Montana on Saturday in the final week of the regular season, currently two wins outside the top-seven qualifying teams.

Wildcats Spoil Lumberjacks, Frost's Senior Day, 74-73
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team (9-18, 6-12 Big Sky) led by as much as 13 with 5:02 left in the game, but Weber State spoiled Senior Day for the Lumberjacks stealing a 74-73 decision Saturday night. The Wildcats' Kalie Matthews hit a free throw with 0.2 seconds to send NAU to a loss in its home finale.

It would have been even easier to give in after breaking her kneecap just weeks before the start of her junior season. But that is not within Amanda Frost and that drive has elevated her to one of the greatest seasons in Northern Arizona women's basketball history.

Women's Basketball Falls Short to Idaho State
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team fought until the end with their backs against the wall, but could not ultimately overcome a three-point deficit with 1:15 to play. Idaho State pulled out a nail biter, 72-65, Thursday night in the Skydome in a pivotal Big Sky Conference matchup for both teams. The Lumberjacks fell to 9-17 overall and 6-11 in league play and will need to win out to keep their postseason hopes alive.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Needing a win to remain in the hunt for a Big Sky Championship tournament bid, the Northern Arizona women’s basketball team posted a historic shooting day to defeat Northern Colorado last Saturday. This week, the Lumberjacks return home for their final homestand of the season, first hosting Idaho State on Thursday before Senior Day on Saturday versus Weber State. Both games will tip off at 6:30 p.m. in the Walkup Skydome and will be the final two home contests for senior Amanda Frost.

Frost Breaks Season Scoring Mark, NAU Shoots Down UNC
GREELEY, Colo. – Just two nights after their worst shooting performance of the season, the Northern Arizona women's basketball team posted a historical offensive showing on several fronts in an 86-70 victory over Northern Colorado Saturday afternoon at the Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion. The win kept the Lumberjacks in the hunt for a Big Sky Championship berth, earning them a split of their weekend road trip and upping their record to 9-16 overall, 6-10 in conference play. It snapped a nine-game losing skid over the last four seasons to the Bears.

Lusain Posts Career Night in NAU's Loss at North Dakota
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team struggled all night offensively, shooting a season-worst 26.5 percent in a 71-41 loss to North Dakota at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The 41 points are a season-low for NAU as it fell to 5-10 in the Big Sky and 8-16 overall.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s basketball team notched two critical wins at home last week and with their eyes squarely on ascending up the Big Sky standings they will hit the road once again this week. The Lumberjacks will play Big Sky leading North Dakota Thursday in Grand Forks, N.D. at 6 p.m. and then will travel to Greeley, Colo. to play Northern Colorado, one of three teams directly ahead of them in the standings, on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Banks' Career-Night Propels NAU to Win Over EWU
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona closed the first half on a 7-0 run to take a two-point halftime lead and used a strong second half start to notch a 86-78 win over Eastern Washington Saturday night. The Lumberjacks (8-15, 5-9 Big sky) erased a nine-point first half deficit to record their first two-game win streak since defeating Utah Valley and UC Santa Barbara in back-to-back games on Nov. 30 and Dec. 5.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball posted a big bounce back effort on Thursday, defeating Portland State, 84-61, with a complete effort on both ends of the court. In front of a boisterous and energetic crowd of local schoolchildren on Field Trip Day, the Lumberjacks jumped out on the Vikings early and used one of their finest defensive efforts of the season to improve to 4-9 in Big Sky play and 7-15 overall.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Returning home after a tough loss at Southern Utah on Monday, the Northern Arizona women’s basketball team returns home for a pair of games to close out the week. FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s basketball team will make a short road trip to Cedar City, Utah on Monday to play Southern Utah before returning home for a pair of home games to close out the week. The Lumberjacks will look to finish the season sweep of the Thunderbirds and turn the tide in their favor following a second consecutive loss on Thursday at home to Sacramento State.

Women's Hoops Rallies Back, Falls 99-91 to Sacramento State
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team mounted a second-half rally that sliced their 18-point halftime deficit to four points, but Sacramento State held on for a 99-91 victory Thursday night. The Lumberjacks (6-14 overall, 3-8 Big Sky) shot 51.4 percent from the field and outrebounded the Hornets by a 47-40 margin, but a subpar first half and costly missed layups ultimately proved too much to overcome.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Through the first half of the conference schedule, the Northern Arizona women’s basketball team is in a tie for ninth at 3-7 and will look to start their push towards moving into the top-seven and earning a Big Sky Championship berth with Sacramento State on Thursday in the Walkup Skydome at 6:30 p.m. The Lumberjacks have not qualified for the conference tournament since the 2008-09 season and has ground to make up in the final 10 games of the season to avoid a fifth straight tournament absence.

Women's Basketball Handed 82-72 Loss by Idaho State
POCATELLO, Idaho – An 8-2 Idaho State spurt to start the second half extended its halftime lead out to nine points and the Northern Arizona women's basketball team was never able to fully recover as they fell 82-72 at Reed Gym Saturday afternoon. The Bengals shot 64 percent from long distance in the second half and 50 percent for the game in denying the Lumberjacks of a second consecutive victory. NAU concluded the first half of the Big Sky schedule with a 3-7 mark and is now 6-13 overall.

Freshmen Lead Lumberjacks to 96-87 Win over Wildcats
OGDEN, Utah – A season-best six players scored in double-figures led by 21 points each from senior Amanda Frost and freshman Brittani Lusain as the Northern Arizona women’s basketball team utilized a total team effort to hand Weber State a 96-87 defeat Thursday night. The Lumberjacks’ 96 points marked their new season-high and highest output since they scored 94 points in a win over Sacramento State on Jan. 28, 2012.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the second game in a row, the Northern Arizona women's basketball team could not find their big breakthrough as they suffered another tough loss, 91-83, at the hands of North Dakota Saturday night. Senior Amanda Frost dropped another 30 points and junior Raven Anderson equaled her career-high of 18 points, but the Lumberjacks could not climb past UND, getting as close as two with 2:32 to play.

Lumberjacks Stunned in Overtime Heartbreaker by UNC
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Colorado’s Lindsay Mallon drained a three-pointer and beat the regulation buzzer to send the game into overtime before stunning the Northern Arizona women’s basketball team, 86-82, in the extra period Thursday night in the Skydome. The Bears outscored the Lumberjacks 13-9 in overtime to drop NAU’s conference record to 2-5 and 5-11 overall.

NAU Athletics Hosts 2nd Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona athletics department will once again celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day for the second consecutive year with a celebration that will stretch over two weekends in February. The celebration will begin on Saturday, Feb. 8, with a Youth Sports Symposium in conjunction with the NAU men’s basketball game against Southern Utah that night and will continue the following weekend with a meet and greet and halftime recognition at the NAU women’s basketball game against Eastern Washington. The clinic on Feb. 8 is open to all youth, both boys and girls, in 1st-8th grade and requires pre-registration.

Coupled with their win at home over Southern Utah, the Lumberjacks ended the week with a 2-1 record picking up their first two Big Sky victories in the process. Frost Earns Two Big Sky POTW Honors After Stellar Week
OGDEN, Utah – Senior Amanda Frost had one of the finest weeks in Northern Arizona women's basketball program history last week and was honored with a pair of Big Sky Player of the Week awards on Monday. The conference office named her Co-Player of the Week with Montana State's Jasmine Hommes while Frost also received College Sports Madness' Big Sky Player of the Week honor for the second time this season.

Lumberjacks Light it Up in 88-67 Win over Portland State
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team exploded for 57 first half points, their highest point total for a half this season, and did just about everything right in the first half in cruising to an 88-67 victory over Portland State at the Peter W. Stott Center Saturday afternoon. The Lumberjacks shot 66.7 percent in the first half in building up a 26-point halftime lead to pick up their first victory in Portland since 2006 spanning seven consecutive losses on the Vikings' home court. The 88 points set a new season high.

CHENEY, Wash. – Senior Amanda Frost scored a game-high 29 points, but a big first half by Eastern Washington proved to be too much for the Northern Arizona women's basketball team to overcome as the Lumberjacks suffered a 92-68 loss at Reese Court Thursday night. NAU fell to 1-3 in Big Sky conference play and 4-10 overall.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Rallying from an 18-point halftime deficit, the Northern Arizona women’s basketball team is riding a wave of momentum as they head up to the Pacific Northwest this weekend to face Eastern Washington on Thursday and Portland State on Saturday. Senior Amanda Frost led the Lumberjacks’ second half comeback past Southern Utah on Monday with a career-high 34 points and is now averaging 20.8 points per game this season.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team axed an 18-point halftime deficit and notched their first Big Sky victory in grand fashion Monday night, defeating Southern Utah, 82-77, for the seventh consecutive time in Flagstaff. The win snapped the Lumberjacks' six-game losing streak since their last victory over UT Arlington on Dec. 14 and improved their record to 4-9 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Lumberjacks got a career-scoring night from junior Erikka Banks and received several career contributions from their freshmen, but Sacramento State pulled away in the second half to turn a halftime tie into a 104-79 victory Thursday night. Banks led four Lumberjacks in double-figures with a career-high 28 points, but NAU fell to 0-3 in conference play and was unable to keep pace with the nation's third-highest scoring team.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s basketball team heads to Sacramento for a short trip this week, taking on one of the nation’s highest scoring teams on Thursday. The Lumberjacks visit Sacramento State at 8 p.m. with eyes on snapping their five-game losing streak which includes two losses to open Big Sky play last week. It will be a quick turnaround for NAU as this will be its only game this week before returning home to host Southern Utah next Monday.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball shot a season-best 88.2 percent from the free-throw line, but their second half rally fell just short to Montana State. The Lumberjacks fell to 0-2 in Big Sky play as the Bobcats held on for an 80-72 victory Saturday night.

Women's Basketball Drops Big Sky Opener, 87-67, to Montana
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – An 18-0 Montana run over a five-minute stretch midway through the first half proved to be a game changer as the Northern Arizona women's basketball team suffered a 87-67 defeat in the Big Sky opener for both teams Thursday night. Freshman Rene Coggins had her best game of her young career and the Lumberjacks blitzed the Lady Griz to end the night, but it was not enough as NAU fell to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Following a 3-6 mark through nonconference play, the Northern Arizona women’s basketball team now turns their eyes toward the prize as the Big Sky portion of the schedule is in front of them. Picked to finish 10th in the preseason Big Sky polls, the Lumberjacks are motivated to prove the skeptics wrong beginning this week at home. NAU will open conference play Thursday against Montana, the defending Big Sky champions, and will close out the week on Saturday against Montana State with both games in the Skydome.

Women's Basketball Comes Up Short, 78-72, to LIU Brooklyn
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team started fast and strung together a second half rally, but ultimately came up just short in a 78-72 loss to LIU Brooklyn Monday night to close out nonconference play. Women's Basketball Begins Homestand Monday vs. LIU Brooklyn
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s basketball team will begin a three-game homestand on Monday with just one more opportunity to tune-up before the start of Big Sky play. The Lumberjacks will host LIU Brooklyn in their final non-conference game at 6:30 p.m. at the Walkup Skydome before hosting Montana and Montana State in to open up the conference schedule on Thursday and Saturday respectively.

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team tried to rally furiously down the stretch, but they were unable to overcome an early Cal State Northridge run. The Lumberjacks got within five late in the game, but would eventually fall 64-52 to the Matadors and fell to 3-4 this season.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women’s basketball team hits the road one last time before the start of Big Sky play this weekend with games at Cal State Northridge on Thursday and Pepperdine on Saturday. FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - For the first time in over a month, the Northern Arizona women's basketball team is back in Flagstaff when they welcome UT Arlington to the Walkup Skydome on Saturday. The Lumberjacks split their four-game road stretch over the last three weeks and went 1-1 on their road trip in California last weekend. After NAU ran away in the second half to defeat UC Santa Barbara, it saw its two-game win streak snapped by Loyola Marymount as it takes a 2-3 mark into Saturday's contest.

The 23-point win was the third-largest margin of victory by the Lumberjacks since the start of the 2007-08 season as they evened their season record to 2-2.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona basketball fans can get their first look at the men’s and women’s teams this Saturday, Oct. 5 prior to the Phoenix Suns scrimmage. POLACCA, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks Athletics Department may be located in Flagstaff, but every time NAU takes the field or steps out into the community, it strives to represent the greater northern Arizona area. To do that, the Lumberjacks need to reach out and make connections. On Thursday, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Lisa Campos led several members of the NAU coaching family to the Hopi Reservation and conducted a clinic for nearly 300 elementary school children from First Mesa Elementary School and Hopi Day School.
