A GRAND UNDERTAKING
Our team’s annual trip to the Grand Canyon takes place this Sunday. The Grand Canyon is recognized as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The views are breathtaking and the majesty and beauty are unsurpassed. It can also be a great place to bond.
As a team building activity, we will hike 6.5 miles (4740 feet) down the South Kaibab Trail and eat lunch beside the Colorado River at the bottom. We will then hike 9.8 miles up the Bright Angel Trail (4360 foot ascent) and be on the rim in time for dinner.
THERE IS NO TRAFFIC ON THE EXTRA MILE
A shout out this week to our Assistant Director for Athletics Communications, Stayson Isobe. He was presented with the NAU Athletics Kick Axe Award at yesterday’s athletic department staff meeting for his service and commitment to our department’s mission. In addition to his assigned duties, Stayson continually looks for ways to improve not only the programs to which he is assigned - women’s basketball, volleyball, swimming and diving - but also the athletic department as a whole.
Enjoy the following video where you can see Stayson (aka Louie the Lumberjack) going “above and beyond” for NAU at the annual Phoenix Suns mascot day.
