FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The 2013-14 Northern Arizona women's basketball season may just be getting started, but their 2014-15 team received a big boost with the signing of Tori Lloyd, who sent in her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Lloyd, Arizona's fifth-ranked player in the for the class of 2014 according to arizonapreps.com, will join head coach Sue Darling's program next season.
"We're fortunate that one of the top guards in the West happens to be from the state of Arizona," Darling said. "Tori Lloyd brings the whole package to NAU. She is a combo guard who is a skilled ball handler and shooter. She's a blue-collar player that brings toughness, gives 100 percent all the time and is an absolute gym rat. She's a great get for our program."
Lloyd is a 5-foot-7 guard out of Dobson High School in Mesa, Ariz. and is coming off a sensational junior season. She led Dobson to a 22-8 season and a spot in the Division I state quarterfinals with a team-best 13.1 points per game. Lloyd was prolific from behind the three-point arc as she knocked down 53 three-pointers, which also was tops on her team, and was equally impressive on the defensive end of the court as she registered a team-high 48 steals for a 1.7 per game average.
Following her junior campaign, Lloyd was an Honorable Mention All-State selection by both the East Valley Tribune and Arizona Republic in addition to AIA First Team All-D1 Section 2 and First Team All-City of Mesa. Lloyd also was a participant in the Arizona Underclass All-Star Game.
