2014-15 NAU Women's Basketball Season Recap
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team has steadily been on the rise and the 2014-15 season was the biggest step in the right direction for a program who is vying a return into the upper echelon of the Big Sky Conference.

'Jacks, Northern Arizona Community Come Together for Student-Athlete for a Day
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The NAU Athletics Department, spearheaded by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), held its Student-Athlete for a Day on Tuesday for over 200 children throughout the northern Arizona region. The important Student-Athlete for a Day returned for the first time in three years and was a fun-filled day for both the Lumberjack student-athletes and the local youth.

Banks Earns Place on College Sports Madness All-Conference Team
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Following a strong final season, Erikka Banks repeated as a College Sports Madness Big Sky All-Conference second team selection on Friday. The Northern Arizona women's basketball senior also was a preseason all-conference selection by the website in the fall.

Lumberjacks Fall to Eagles, 73-57, as Season Ends in Big Sky Tourney
MISSOULA, Mont. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team trimmed a 22-point halftime deficit to as low as 14 in the second half, but ultimately saw their season come to an end in the Big Sky Quarterfinals at the hands of Eastern Washington, 73-57, Wednesday night. The fifth-seeded 'Jacks outscored the fourth-seeded Eagles by six after half and outshot EWU, but could not pull themselves all the way back, finishing the season with a 13-17 overall record.

Women's Basketball Senior Duo Receives All-Conference Honors
OGDEN, Utah – Seniors Erikka Banks and Raven Anderson have led the Northern Arizona women's basketball team all season, and on Tuesday they were rewarded with selections to the Big Sky All-Conference teams. In a vote conducted by the league's head coaches, Banks was named to the All-Big Sky Second Team while Anderson garnered honorable mention honors.

NAU and Eastern Washington Square Off Wednesday in BSC Quarterfinals
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women's basketball team takes to Missoula, Mont. for this week's Big Sky Women's Basketball Championships starting Wednesday. In the Lumberjacks' first appearance in the conference tournament in six years, NAU - the fifth seed - will face fourth-seeded Eastern Washington in the first round on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Flagstaff time.

Women's Basketball Outshot by Sacramento State, 105-81
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team shot 63.2 percent from the field – the second highest field goal percentage in school history – but fell to Sacramento State in their regular season finale, 105-81, on Saturday. The Lumberjacks concluded the regular season with a 13-16 record, 9-9 in conference play heading into next week's Big Sky Championships.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Seniors Raven Anderson and Erikka Banks exerted their will on Portland State in a dominant effort for the team's leaders, fueling the Northern Arizona women's basketball team to a 79-62 victory on Thursday night. The victory sealed up NAU's spot in next week's Big Sky Championships, marking the Lumberjacks' first conference tournament appearance since 2009.

Women's Basketball Falls to Northern Colorado, 88-67, on Senior Night
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team honored their two seniors Raven Anderson and Erikka Banks prior to the start of their final home game as Lumberjacks versus Northern Colorado. Then the Bears played the role of spoiler as they handed NAU an 88-67 loss in the Walkup Skydome on Saturday, ruining Senior Night. The Lumberjacks will head into the final week of the regular season with a 12-15 overall record and an even 8-8 Big Sky mark.

The most effective way to do that is to get layups at the rim and there aren't too many players who have come through the Northern Arizona women's basketball program who have been better at doing just that than seniors Raven Anderson and Erikka Banks.

Women's Hoops Prevail in Double OT, 72-68, Against UND
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team dusted themselves off from a tough road trip and needed every second of a 50-minute ball game Thursday night to pull out a resounding 72-68 victory over North Dakota. The Lumberjacks inched closer to a potential Big Sky Tournament berth with the victory, hammering out their first ever double overtime victory in school history in the process. With the win, NAU improved to 12-14 overall and 8-7 in conference play.

Women's Basketball Outshot by Eastern Washington, 73-42
CHENEY, Wash. – For the second time this road trip, the Northern Arizona women's basketball team was done in by a critical first half run, this time at the hands of second-place Eastern Washington on Saturday. The Lumberjacks fell to the Eagles, 73-42, despite 18 points from sophomore Rene Coggins and 16 points from senior Erikka Banks. The loss dropped NAU's record to 11-14 and 7-7 in the conference.

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho closed the first half on a 22-0 run and pulled away from the Northern Arizona women's basketball, handing the Lumberjacks a 78-43 loss Thursday night at the Cowan Spectrum. NAU's record fell to 11-13 overall and 7-6 in conference play, dropping a spot in the Big Sky standings to sixth-place.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona women's basketball team will face a pair of conference foes for the first time this season on the road this weekend. The Lumberjacks (11-12, 7-5 Big Sky) will take their two-game win streak to the Northwest to face Idaho on Thursday and Eastern Washington on Saturday with two chances to further solidify their place among the Big Sky's top eight teams. NAU will tip-off versus UI in Moscow, Idaho at 7 p.m. on Thursday and 3 p.m. versus EWU in Cheney, Wash. on Saturday. Both times are local to Flagstaff.

Women's Basketball Finishes Strong, Hands Weber State 56-52 Defeat
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Down four at halftime and as much as six in the second half, the Northern Arizona women's basketball team ended the game on an 8-2 run to gut out a 56-52 victory over Weber State. Sophomore Catelyn Preston's go-ahead bucket with 1:25 was the dagger as NAU was less than willing to show the Wildcats love on Valentine's Day, avenging an earlier loss to Weber State on the road last month.

NAU Earns First Win Over ISU Since 2011, 64-47, on Play 4 Kay Night
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Senior Raven Anderson scored 21 of her career-high 25 points in the second half, helping the Northern Arizona women's basketball team snap a seven-game losing streak to Idaho State with a 64-47 victory in the Skydome. On Play 4 Kay night to bring awareness to breast cancer, the Lumberjacks rose to the occasion, moving to 6-5 in conference play and recording their 10th overall victory of the season.

Women's Basketball's Win Streak Halted at UND
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team was unable to keep North Dakota, the second-highest scoring team in the Big Sky, in check on Saturday as their three-game win streak was snapped by the defending conference champs, 78-62. North Dakota shot 58.9 percent from the field, marking the first time an opponent has shot upwards of 50 percent against NAU this season, in the victory.

Women's Basketball Earns Road Win at Northern Colorado, 51-49
GREELEY, Colo. – After nine straight losses to Northern Colorado the Northern Arizona women's basketball team got the best of the Bears for the second straight year in Greeley. NAU held off a hard charging Bears squad to come out on the winning end of a 51-49 slugfest on Thursday, prevailing in the final seconds and as a result earned their elusive first road victory of the season. With the win, the 'Jacks moved over .500 in conference play to 5-4.

Women's Hoops Powers Past Southern Utah in Overtime, 73-64
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team fought back from an eight-point halftime deficit and muscled their way past Southern Utah in overtime for a 73-64 victory to even their Big Sky record to 4-4. The Lumberjacks, now 8-11 for the season, received a career-high 17 points from junior Mariah Willadsen and double-doubles from seniors Raven Anderson and Erikka Banks in NAU's second come-from-behind home win over Southern Utah in as many years.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team used a convincing second half run to snap their four-game losing streak on Saturday, handing Montana State a 79-64 defeat in the Skydome. Seniors Erikka Banks and Raven Anderson were instrumental in the victory, combining for 43 points to help NAU improve to 3-4 in conference play and 7-11 overall. The win also broke a nine-game skid to the Bobcats dating back nearly five years.

Women's Hoops' Erikka Banks Notches First Big Sky POTW Award
OGDEN, Utah – Fresh off helping lead the Northern Arizona women's basketball team to their first 2-0 start in conference play since the 2005-06 season, senior Erikka Banks was named the Big Sky's Player of the Week on Monday. She also garnered College Sports Madness' Player of the Week honor for the conference. The weekly award from the conference office is the first of her career.

Women's Hoops Deadly from Deep in 94-46 Triumph Past PSU
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – It was a day of season-bests in the Walkup Skydome for the Northern Arizona women's basketball team as it completed the first weekend of conference play with a decisive 94-46 victory over Portland State. The win marked NAU's first 2-0 start in Big Sky play in nearly a decade dating back to the 2005-06 season and just the third time in school history. The Lumberjacks are now 6-7 overall.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Facing the country's fifth highest scoring team, the Northern Arizona women's basketball extinguished Sacramento State's offensive fireworks on New Year's Day to pick up a 64-60 victory on Thursday to ring in 2015 on a high note. The win snapped a four-game losing streak to the Hornets and was NAU's first victory to open the conference season since the 2007-08 season. NAU also ended a four-game overall losing streak to improve to 5-7.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team used a strong defensive performance in attempt to offset their struggles on the other end of the court, but ultimately could not overcome a lengthy scoring drought to end the first half on Sunday. The Lumberjacks went scoreless for the final 9:44 of the first half and despite holding New Mexico to 32.7 percent from the field, they fell to 4-7 with a 56-37 loss to the Lobos.

The Lumberjacks shot 57.1 percent in the first half, but saw their field goal percentage drop to 34.6 percent in the final 20 minutes as they fell to 4-6 this season, suffering their third straight defeat.

The team and coaching staff spent the afternoon caroling and interacting with the residents in another experience that was memorable for both parties.

Women's Hoops Fall Short to Pepperdine, 66-63, on Field Trip Day
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's basketball started the second half fast, but Pepperdine rallied and held on for a 66-63 victory to spoil NAU's second annual Field Trip Day in the Skydome. In front of a season-best crowd of 803 boosted by hundreds of local schoolchildren, the Lumberjacks' late effort was stymied by the Waves as they fell to 4-5 this season.

EUGENE, Ore. – After a nearly 90 minute power outage, the Northern Arizona women's basketball team responded by shooting lights out to begin the second half, but came up short in a 59-47 defeat to Oregon on Saturday in the Matthew Knight Arena. Sophomore Brittani Lusain led the Lumberjacks with 14 points and junior Mariah Willadsen chipped in 12 points in the loss, as NAU (4-4) fell shy after closing within one point after halftime.

The Lumberjacks (4-3) had four players in double-figures led by senior Raven Anderson, who posted a near triple-double with 21 points, nine rebounds a career-best nine assists, in winning their Skydome opener this season.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Senior Erikka Banks posted a double-double and the Lumberjacks received exceptional bench play as the Northern Arizona women's basketball team seized control at the end of the first half and took off in a 61-43 victory over Fort Lewis College on Saturday. Banks notched 16 points and 12 rebounds, while the NAU bench scored 30 points, helping NAU even its record to 3-3.

Women's Basketball Defeated by UTEP, 82-58
EL PASO, Texas – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team stuck with UTEP in the second half, but a 22-point halftime deficit was too much for the Lumberjacks to overcome in an 82-58 loss to the Miners in the Don Haskins Center. Sophomore Rene Coggins led the Lumberjacks with a career-best 22 points as NAU fell to 1-2 this season.

NAU's Dominating Defensive Effort Leads to Season Opening Win
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s basketball team clamped down defensively and shut down UC Irvine on their way to a 66-35 season opening victory Friday night in the Rolle Activity Center. The Lumberjacks, who allowed 79.3 points per game a year ago, held the Anteaters to just 21.3 percent shooting to open the season 1-0 for the first time since 2007 after six consecutive season opening defeats.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – It is no question that Julie Hanks left her mark at NAU during her playing career. An NAU Hall of Famer, Hanks left as the program's all-time leading scorer in 1986 and is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished players in school history. Yet as exceptional as she was on the hardwood in the mid-1980s, Hanks remains as dedicated as ever to the game nearly 30 years later.
