RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s golf team is sixth after the first day of action at the Rio Verde Invitational after posting a 305 team score. Junior Dakin Banta was the top player for the Lumberjacks with a four-over par 75 on the par-71 layout.

NAU trails fifth place Kansas by two strokes and is within 10 strokes of second place. Michigan leads the field after posting a seven-over par 291 in the opening round behind individual leader Ashley Bauer, who recorded a three-under par 68. Arkansas-Little Rock, Minnesota, Eastern Michigan and Kansas round out the top five teams in the standings.
