Women’s Golf Keeps Lead Through Day Two at Lumberjack Shootout
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Northern Arizona continues to lead the 2011 Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwam with a six-stroke lead over Indiana heading into the third and final round of competition.
NAU combined to shoot 292 on Tuesday after setting the pace on day one with a team score of 287. The Lumberjacks sit three-over par with a 579 stroke count through 36 holes.
"We didn't shoot as well as yesterday but after two days against a talented field it is a result to build off," said head coach Brad Bedortha. "Tomorrow is what really counts and we are focused on that right now."
Indiana jumped ahead of Tarleton State turning in the day's best team result shooting 289 on Tuesday. The Hoosiers are nine over par with a score of 595 in two days at Wigwam. Tarleton State dropped to third place followed by Florida International and Eastern Michigan.
Alexa Kim continued to fight for the individual lead carding even par. She shot one-under 71 on Monday and followed with 72 on Tuesday for a combined score of 143. She sits two strokes behind the tournament leader Carla Cooper of Tarleton State.
Bethany Leclair moved from 10th into a three-way tie for fourth place. Leclair shot two-over par 73 yesterday but shaved two strokes of her round on Tuesday finishing a one-under par 71.
The first pairing is set to start at 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
