Women’s Golf Heads to Albuquerque for Dick McGuire Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Northern Arizona women's golf team will start play at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational with two rounds on Sunday starting at 8 a.m. The Lumberjacks will be playing in their second tournament of the fall season.

"We have continued to practice and work on our games," said Head Coach Brad Bedortha. "We have talked about being more consistent and posting a good score in each round."

The 18-team field includes New Mexico, Baylor, Campbell, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Iowa, Iowa State, North Texas, Northern Arizona, Northwestern, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Jose State, TCU, UNLV, UTEP and Wyoming.  Pepperdine is the highest-ranked team in the field at No. 22 in the latest Golf World/NGCA poll.  Iowa State is No. 26 and TCU 30th.udes 18 teams.

"This one of the best tournaments we will play in all season," said Bedortha. "There are several good teams. It is going to be a different environment for us. I am really excited."

NAU finished 12th in the Circling Raven Collegiate Invitational to open the season. The Lumberjacks were led by true freshman Laura Jabczenski, who finished tied for seventh at 228 after posting a three-over par 75 in the final round.
