ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – The Northern Arizona women's golf team finished fifth at the Lamkin Grip/Cal Poly Invitational Tuesday after posting a 315 team score in the second and final round. Santa Clara won the team titles with an eight stroke victory over CSU-Northridge.
Host Cal Poly and Grand Canyon were tied for third at 638, three strokes ahead of the Lumberjacks.
"Today everyone played better we just had some big numbers that hurt us," said Head Coach Brad Bedortha.
The Lumberjacks had not played in month since their last tournament.
Junior Stephanie Kim led the team, finishing tied for second at five-over par 151 after posting a four-over par 77 in the second round. The Tempe, Ariz., product finished one stroke back of Balbina Guajardo of Santa Clara, who carded an even-par 73 in the final round.
Sophomore Kaitlen Parsons had the best round of the day with a three-over par 76 to finish tied for 11th. Freshmen Laura Jabczenski and Melissa Olson tied for 33rd overall after recording rounds of 82 and 80, respectively.
The Lumberjacks open the spring season on Feb. 5 at the Wildcat Invitational.
