RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Freshman Laura Jabczenski posted her second consecutive four-over par 75 to finish 10th overall and lead the Lumberjacks at the Rio Verde Invitational to a 10th-place team finish. The Tucson, Ariz., native finished at 226 with her three rounds in the 70s, including a 76 in the first round.
"Laura played real good golf," said Head Coach Brad Bedortha. "She played solid all day and made some good putts."
Classmate Darian Spivey had her collegiate best with a five-over par 76 in the third round to move up to 55th overall, while sophomore Kaitlen Parsons carded a 79 in the third round. Parsons was the second-best overall finisher in a tie for 39th.
"Darian got in a good groove and had a nice round," said Bedortha.
NAU shot a 312 for the second consecutive day to finish at 945 for the three-day tournament. Kansas won the team title with a three-stroke victory over Missouri State and six strokes better than Akron.
Junior Stephanie Kim posted an 82 in the final round, while Susana Mejia recorded an 83. Freshman Melissa Olson posted her third consecutive improved round with a 79 on Sunday. She finished tied for 73rd overall in the field.
Kristin Hill of Akron won the individual title at 219 after shooting a one-over par 72 in the final round.
The Lumberjacks return to action at BYU at Entrada tournament played at St. George, Utah starting on March 19.
