Women’s Golf Ninth after Two Rounds at BYU at Entrada Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Northern Arizona women's golf team improved to ninth place in the team standings at the BYU at Entrada Classic held at the Entrada at Snow Canyon after 36 holes on Monday.

NAU, which posted a 320 in the second 18 holes, moved ahead of Utah Valley and New Mexico State. The Lumberjacks are four strokes back of Southern Utah and 10 behind host BYU in the standings. 49th-ranked Texas State leads the tournament over ninth-ranked Oklahoma State by 12 strokes.

Sophomore Kaitlen Parsons shot a four-over par 76 to tie for 22nd after two rounds. Freshman Darian Spivey and junior Stephanie Kim each posted rounds of nine-over par 81 in the afternoon session. Spivey is tied for 31st, while Kim is tied for 51st. Freshman Laura Jabczenski had an 82 for the second consecutive round, tying for 48th overall. Melissa Olson had an 87.

Freshman Susana Mejia posted scores of 93 and 90 playing as an individual in the tournament.

Spivey posted a seven-under par 79 in the first round on Monday to lead the Lumberjacks, tying her second best round of the season. Parsons was one stroke back with an 80, while Jabczenski posted an 82. Kim had an 84 and Olson recorded an 87.

The Lumberjacks were 11th overall with a team score of 325 after 18 holes.

The third and final round will be contested Tuesday morning.
