Golfers Parsons and Kim Earn All-Big Sky Honors

OGDEN, Utah – Sophomore Kaitlen Parsons and junior Stephanie Kim were both named to the Big Sky All-Conference team announced by the league office Monday.

Parsons, who hails from Greenacres, Wash., averaged 76.55 strokes per round and had a ranking of 308. Parsons had two top-five finishes and two top-10 finishes this season. Parsons tied for seventh at the Big Sky Championship.

Parsons joined Sacramento State's Julie Shutler, Portland State's Britney Yada and Tiffany Schoning and Northern Colorado's Carleigh Silvers on the first team.

Kim earned All-Big Sky honors for the third straight season. She was named to the all-conference first-team after each of her first two seasons.

Kim posted a 77.2 stroke average over 11 tournaments in 2011-12. She finished eighth at Big Sky Championships, carding rounds of 72-74-73, one of three top-10 finishes on the season. Kim had a season-best tie for second finish at Cal Poly/Lamkin Grip Invitational during the fall campaign and finished tied for fifth at the Red Rocks Invitational.

The All-Conference Team and Individual Award winners are based on rankings provided by Golfstat. For the first time, results in the Big Sky Championship were included before the All-Conference Team was announced.

Shutler was named the Big Sky Conference women's golf Player of the Year, while Montana's Tara Green earned the Freshman of the Year honor. Green and Lexie Hall of Sacramento State earned second-team honors, along with Montana sophomore Olivia Weber, Kim and Weber State junior Kelsey Chugg.
