Golfer Kim Shares Big Sky Honor
OGDEN, Utah - Northern Arizona's Stephanie Kim and Northern Colorado's Carleigh Silvers have been selected as the Co-Big Sky Conference Golfers of the Week.
Kim, a senior from Tempe, Ariz., shot the second-best round of her career en route to tying for eighth place in a strong field at the Mountain View Collegiate. Kim opened play with a 74, followed with a 1-under-par 71, and closed with a 72 for a 1-over-par 217. Kim won the Big Sky Championship at a freshman in 2010 with an even-par 216. This is her ninth career Golfer of the Week honor.
Kim helped Northern Arizona post the second-lowest 54-hole score in school history. NAU shot rounds of 289, 286 and 307 for an 882. Texas Tech won the tourney with a 6-under 858. NAU's round of 286 was the second-lowest in school history. The tourney was played March 15-16 at the Mountain View Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz.
Silvers, a senior from Martinsville, Ind., was the medalist at the Monterey Bay Invitational. Silvers, the defending Big Sky Champion, shot rounds of 79, 73, and 75 for a 227. She won the tournament by 10 shots.
Silvers helped Northern Colorado to the team title. The Bears shot a 54-hole score of 952 at the Del Monte Golf Course on March 17-19. This is Silvers' fifth career Golfer of the Week.
