FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona University's golf team will begin its season today at the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo. The tournament will be three days in length playing one round each day, ending on Wednesday Sept. 25th.
The tournament will be a great opportunity for NAU golf to compete against some of the best in the country. Five of the 18 competing teams finished last season ranked in the top-50 of the nation. UC Davis finished 25th, Pepperdine finished 29th, SMU finished 36th, TCU finished 44th and San Jose State rounds out the group at 50th.
This year marks the fifth year the Golfweek Women's Conference Challenge has been contested, and the fourth year it's been played at Red Sky. Pepperdine is the only two-time winner in tournament history (2009, '12). Of the 18 teams in this week's field, eight teams have never played at Red Sky before (Florida International, Indiana, Arkansas-Little Rock, James Madison, Boston College, Morehead State, Illinois State, Northern Arizona).
Scoring updates will be posted on the NAU athletics website daily. Live scoring for this event can be found at GolfStat.com.
