FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Northern Arizona University's women's golf team will compete at the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational hosted by Kansas State this weekend. The two-day tournament will be held at the Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., beginning on Mar. 29.
NAU will compete against Arkansas State, BYU, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Kansas State, Kent State, Minnesota, Mizzou, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Portland State, Redlands CC, Tulsa and Wyoming this weekend.
"We got a much needed break after playing three tournaments in two weekends," said head coach Brad Bedortha. "I am definitely looking forward to getting back into action."
NAU has had some time to rest up over the past two weeks after playing through a brutal string of tournaments prior to spring break. Newcomer Jacquie LeMarr and senior Kaitlen Parsons have been the most consistent performers for the team this spring. Parsons shot the third-lowest round in tournament history last season, posting a 68 in the first round in 2013.
The Lumberjacks finished seventh at this same tournament last season, posting rounds of 289, 286 and 307. Bedortha's group will be looking to continue their hot play this spring in order to improve on that result this season. NAU has never prevailed as champion of the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational.
"There will be some good competition this weekend," Bedortha said. "It will be exciting to see how we stack up against the field this weekend."
