Update: Women’s Soccer to Face Portland State in BSC Semifinal

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – With Idaho State’s 4-0 win over Weber State on Saturday, Northern Arizona finishes fourth in the Big Sky regular season standings and will face Big Sky Championship-host Portland State in the second semifinal match next Friday, November 6, in Portland. Idaho State finishes third and will face second-seeded Eastern Washington in the first semifinal on Friday, with the winners to meet on Sunday, November 8, for the Big Sky championship.

The Lumberjacks and Vikings will meet at 4 p.m. Pacific time (5 p.m. Arizona) in the second semifinal next Friday. The Lumberjacks beat the Vikings, 1-0, in Flagstaff on October 11. The same teams met in the Big Sky Championship semifinals last season in Ogden, Utah, with NAU claiming a 1-0 victory to advance to the final match, where the Lumberjacks topped Weber State to win the conference title.

Northern Arizona also beat Eastern Washington, 4-2, on senior day in Flagstaff last week but lost at Idaho State, 4-2, earlier this season. The Bengals and Lumberjacks both finished 4-3 in the Big Sky with 12 points apiece, but Idaho State earned the tiebreaker and third place in the conference based on their victory over NAU.

Previews and live game coverage will be provided on nauathletics.com throughout the week and live from Portland next weekend.
