FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Head coach Andre Luciano and his coaching staff are proud to announce their NAU Women's Soccer ID Camp to be held on March 17 and 18. The camp is open to all players currently enrolled in the eighth to twelfth grade that are interested in playing soccer at the collegiate level.
"We've always hosted summer camps and we've been able to identify players during these camps," said assistant coach Holly Jones. "We decided to run a spring camp to give players an additional opportunity to come in and been seen by the NAU coaching staff. They'll be able to get a feel for how we run practices and our training sessions, as well as get a feel for the campus."
For a camp fee of $200, the camp includes technical and tactical practice sessions taught by the NAU women's soccer coaching staff as well as full 11v11 games. The coaches will also hold an NCAA informational meeting with the camp participants and lunch will be provided on both days.
Over the last several years, a number of current and former Lumberjacks were participants at previous camps. Of this year's signing class announced last week, seven of the 10 incoming freshmen into the program caught the eye of the coaching staff through the summer camps.
"For us as coaches, it's a good way to see them here on campus," Jones said. "It's also a good way for them to see if they like our coaching styles as well to see if it's a good fit. We have a lot of current players that have attended our summer camps that we were able to see play during our camps."
Applications are due by March 1 and the camp will be limited to 100 participants. Players and/or families are responsible for their own travel and rooming accommodations.
The application, as well as the full camp schedule, can be found in the brochure at the above link. For further information or questions, you can contact Jones by email at Holly.Jones@nau.edu or by phone at 928-523-2553.
