Soccer Hosts Alumni, Embry-Riddle in Spring Finale Saturday

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona soccer team concludes its spring season this Saturday with a home game versus Embry-Riddle at 7 p.m. under the lights of Lumberjack Stadium. The game will be the last of the Lumberjacks' six-game spring tune-up before the upcoming fall season.

Prior to the Embry-Riddle nightcap, the Lumberjacks will welcome in 14 NAU soccer alums for an alumni game at 3 p.m. The game will feature 30 minutes of game action between the alums and the current Lumberjack squad before the two sides will intermix for the final portion of the game. For a complete list of the participating alumni, refer to the list below.

"Saturday is a great day because it allows us to bring in the olds with our former greats and intertwine them with our current players," said head coach Andre Luciano. "It's nice for our team to interact with our alums and get a sense of the history. But more importantly, it puts a finale on our spring season. We've had a lot of growth this spring and we look forward to the whole day as a whole."

Admission to both the alumni game and the Embry-Riddle game is free for all fans to attend at Lumberjack Stadium. At the Embry-Riddle night game, the team will also raffle off two overnight soccer camp spots.

Also in conjunction with Saturday's spring finale is a fundraiser at Taverna Greek Grill for the Lumberjack soccer team. Luciano and his squad will be traveling to Spain in mid-May to compete against some of the top professional teams in the country among other things on tap for the trip. The current student-athletes have completely self-fundraised this trip and Taverna Greek Grill has offered to donate 15 percent of customers' bills to help support the Lumberjacks.

Taverna Greek Grill asks that all customers present the flyer found in the link above with their purchase. The offer will be good from 6 p.m. to closing at Taverna Greek Grill.

"Taverna has been our home after home Friday night matches and they've been very kind to help us with our final fundraising push for our trip," Luciano said.

More information in regards to the Lumberjacks' trip to Spain will be provided in the future at
