FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For the second straight year, Northern Arizona women's soccer senior forward Elinor Priest has been named a CoSida/Capital One Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team selection for District 8. Priest was named to the Second Team Academic All-District 8 for her achievements on and off the field.
"Elinor exemplifies what we try and do here at Northern Arizona University and that is bringing in quality student-athletes," said head Andre Luciano. "She is well rounded student-athlete who performs well in the classroom and on the field and I am really proud of her."
The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada and it recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. NAU is included in District 8 which encompasses Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada.
Priest carries a 4.00 cumulative GPA as an English and psychology double major. The Portland, Ore. native originally transferred to NAU from the University of Portland where she spent her freshman year. This season, Priest is tied for third on the team with 21 shots and has started in every match for the Lumberjacks this season.
"It is a reflection of how hard I have worked on and off the field," said Priest. "Being an athlete, any spare time I have immediately goes to my academics so it is nice to be recognized."
Priest will return to her hometown for the Big Sky Conference Championships next week where the Lumberjacks will face Weber State in the semifinals on Nov. 7.
