2014 Northern Arizona Soccer Signing Class

Emma Bushell – Forward – Weber High School – Eden, Utah

Bio: Four-year letter winner and two-year starter at Weber High School… One-year captain for Sheena Knight… Scored 16 goals and led team in goals and assists in 2013… First Team All-Region in 2014… Played for La Roca for two years by Pancho Ovalle… Won regions with La Roca. 

Head coach Andre Luciano: “She is a naturally left-footed player who is very athletic and has a nose for goal. She has a great attacking mentality.” 

 

Chantal Deroos – Midfielder – Boulder High School – Boulder, Colo. 

Bio: Two-year starter and letter winner at Boulder High School… Played for Ryan Henkel where her team made it to the second round of the State playoffs in 2014… An All-Conference Honorary Mention in 2013… Played for FC Boulder where she was a two-year starter and one-year captain for David Martinez… U18 Champions for girls of South Holland in the Netherlands.

Head coach Andre Luciano: “A player that we saw at camp for the first time who is very technical. As a forward in camp, she can also play in the midfield and she does not hesitate shooting in front of goal.”

 

Meghan Dickmann – Goalkeeper – Dana Hills High School – San Clemente, Calif. 

Bio: Three-year letter winner and two-year starter at Dana Hills High School… One-year captain for Sheena Jarvis and Carrie Taylor… Second team South Coast All-League… Sea Coast League Champions in 2013… CIF semifinalist in 2013… Sea View League Champions in 2012… Played for West Coast FC for coach Swanson and coach Gould for three years… A 2011 USYSA Region IV semifinalist.

Head coach Andre Luciano: “Meghan is an outstanding goalkeeper who we have watched for over the past two years. She is going to come in and compete immediately for a starting position. She plays for a fantastic football club in West Coast FC and has a great lineage where her sister played at Cal and her dad was on the US Men’s National Water Polo team.” 

 

Alyssa Emig – Forward – Verrado High School – Goodyear, Ariz. 

Bio: Four-year starter and letter winner at Verrado High School… One-year captain for coach David Hopkinson… Won the Division III Arizona State Championship in 2014… Division II All-Selection…  1st Team All-Skyline Region selection… Section II All-Selection First team… Division III All-Division Second team. 

Head coach Andre Luciano: “Alyssa is super-fast and loves to dance with the ball is very technical. She will redshirt this year due to an injury but she will make an impact on the remainder of her four years here.”     

 

Brooke Evans – Center Midfielder – Cottonwood High School – Salt Lake City, Utah

Bio: Four-year starter at Cottonwood High School… One-year captain for Jessica Vanderveur at Cottonwood… Placed second in region in 2013… Best Varsity Midfielder in 2011 and 2012… 5A First Team All-Region from 2011-13… Reached 5A State playoffs from 2011-13… Second team All-State in 2012… All-State Honorable Mention in 2011… Most Valuable Varsity Player in 2013… Leading goal scorer in 2013 with 10 goals… Assist leader in 2012 and 2013… Led Cottonwood to best finish in four years in 2013 with a second place finish in region… Played for La Roca for eight years where she was an eight-year starter and captain for Ariel Bravo… Two-time State Cup finalist… Two-time Premier League Champ… Ranked second in the state of Utah… Overall Assist leader in La Roca history.      

Head coach Andre Luciano: “Brooke is a tall, athletic ball-winner who is a great distributor with great vision. She has great range and texture behind her passes who will play as an attacking center-mid.”

 

Anna Goebel – Forward – Sandra Day O’Connor – Phoenix, Ariz. 

Bio: Four-year letter winner and starter at Sandra Day O’Connor… One-year captain for coach Mike Varella… Scored 74 goals during her high school career… Scored 28 goals with eight assists during her senior year… Division I All-State First Team in 2014… Division I All-State Honorable Mention from 2011-13… Two-Time Offensive Player of the Year… All-Time leading scorer at Sandra Day O’Connor… First player to play at a Division I school from her high school… Horizon Tournament Champion in 2014… Six-year starter for Banat 96 for coaches Alan Watson and Jon Ruzan… 54 goals and 29 assists from 2012-14.  

Head coach Andre Luciano: “Anna is one of the most underrated players that has come out of the state of Arizona. She is extremely talented player who is one of the most tactical players we have ever recruited. Anna is going to have a fantastic career here at Northern Arizona.” 

 

Amber Measley – Defender/Midfielder – Catalina Foothills – Tucson, Ariz. 

Bio: Four-year letter winner, three-year starter and one-year captain in soccer at Catalina Foothills playing for Charlie Kendrick… First Team All-State & First team Division II her junior year as a midfielder… Was the second leading goal scorer on her team her sophomore season… Played as a defender in her final season at Catalina Foothills… Won the Arizona Division II State Title from 2011-13… Was a four-year starter for the Tucson Soccer Academy playing for Todd & Amy Garelick… A part of the 2013 Arizona Division I State Champions.     

Head coach Andre Luciano: “Amber has played for a fantastic coach in Charlie Kendrick at Catalina Foothills and Tucson Soccer Academy. She is a very cerebral player that can play multiple positions as a left-back, left-mid or as a forward.” 

 

Adrian Nixt – Forward – Westside Christian High School – Portland, Ore. 

Bio: Four-year starter at Westside Christian High School… Three-year captain for head coach Alan Rich… 31 goals in the 2013-14 season… Golden Boot Award winner as a freshman all four years… Player of the League in 2010 & 2011...Played for the Oswego Southside Academy in the Oregon Premier League.

Head coach Andre Luciano: “Adrian is player that continues to develop year-in and year-out. We identified her in her sophomore year and she continues to impress with her play. We are excited for her to join, Haley (Wingender), Savannah (Berry) and Lindsay (Doyle) on the front line and give us some depth in goal scoring.” 

 

Riley Porter – Defender – Fremont High School – Plain City, Utah

Bio: Four-year starter and one-year captain at Fremont High School… Played for Lativa Palmer… First Team All-State in 2013… MVP and Athlete of the Week in 2013… Eanred Defensive MVP honor in 2012 and was Second Team All-State… Region 1 champions in 2013… Played for La Roca for six years and was a five-year captain for Ariel Bravo… Was a State Cup finalist in 2009 and 2011… Won the Slammers Cup in 2011… US Club Regional Champions in 2012... Played in the ODP State Team from 2009-11.  

Head coach Andre Luciano: “Riley Porter reminds me of Georgia Foltz on how she plays. She is a player who is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and go to work. She is a phenomenal ball-winner and can read the game great defensively. She is a great organizer and plays the game above her size.”   

 

Micaela Scafani – Defender – Benicia High School – Benicia, Calif.  

Bio: Two-year starter for Walter Pratte and Paul Sapsford for Pleasanton Rage ECNL… Qualified for the ECNL Nationals in Virginia in 2013… Played at Benicia High School. 

Head coach Andre Luciano: “Micaela comes from a great club Pleasanton Rage, which was the club that Alana D’Onofrio came from. Very hard-working, blue collar work ethic that is good at attacking out of the backline who is very disciplined. Everytime she steps out on the field, she loves to play.” 

 

Maddie Sjothun – Defender – Union High School – Vancouver, Wash. 

Bio: Four-year letter winner and starter at Union High School… A two-year captain for head coach Kelcey Burris… Scored 23 goals as a defender… Most minutes played over a four-year career at Union High School… Three-year starter and two-year captain for FC Portland… Played in the NAU ID Camp All-Star game… Made it to the Washington State 4A State quarterfinals for the first time in school history… team ranked sixth in defensive power rankings by Seattle Times… Played for the Washington Timbers and was a three-year starter for Esteban Delgadillo.

Head coach Andre Luciano: “Maddie is a wrecking ball that is a hard tackler and a great ball-winner. She is not afraid to challenge anyone on 50-50 balls but yet she is very tactical. She can be a great holding center-back or a center-mid.”
