Date: Friday, Oct. 31

Location: Flagstaff, Ariz. – Lumberjack Stadium
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women's soccer team will conclude the regular season Friday night at home against Southern Utah where the Lumberjacks will honor their six seniors Savannah Berry, Diane Buzzard, Mary Harrah, Emily Roth, Sarah Tarver and Malia Tano before the match.
It is a crucial match for the Lumberjacks as they look to reserve a seat in the Big Sky Championships next week in Missoula, Mont. NAU can place anywhere from second place to seventh place. If the Lumberjacks' win Friday night's match then NAU would secure a spot in the playoffs. The Lumberjacks are coming off a weekend where they went unbeaten on the road against Weber State and Idaho State. Northern Arizona scored the latest goal in regulation in NAU history at Weber State for a 1-1 draw and the Lumberjacks closed out the weekend defeating Idaho State 2-1 for NAU's first win in Pocatello, Idaho since 2005. NAU continues to lead the Big Sky in goals against average in the Big Sky at 0.82 goals per game.
This will be the 13th meeting all-time between Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. NAU holds a 10-1-1 all-time record against the Thunderbirds. Last year's matchup in Cedar City, Utah resulted in a 3-2 NAU win in double overtime.
Coach Luciano Quote of the Week
"I think the most important aspect of this week's game is that it could possibly place us anywhere from second place or in seventh place so there is a lot riding on this game in terms of what happens with the conference tournament. The only focus for the weekend is getting a win. There will be some emotions with Senior Day but if you ask our seniors, their mindset isn't that this is their last home game but really it is continuing off what we did last weekend and fighting another game."
Scouting Southern Utah
Southern Utah has had an outstanding season with seven wins this season, which is a win more than their 2013 campaign. This will not be the first trip for the Thunderbirds to Flagstaff this season as they played in the Lumberjack Mountain Classic from Sept. 12-14. Southern Utah went 2-0 at Lumberjack Stadium against Grand Canyon and Wright State winning both games in double overtime. The Thunderbirds have arguably been the most potent offense in the Big Sky this season as they lead the conference with 84 points with a league-leading 26 assists and 29 goals scored which puts them tied for second in the Big Sky. The Thunderbirds can attack from all different areas on the field as 12 different players have scored a goal for head coach Becky Hogan. SUU is led by Nancy Brich who leads the team with 13 points including a team-high six goals and one assist. The only other player with double-digit points this season is Abbie Flandro who has 12 points with four goals and a team-leading four assists. Southern Utah is coming off a win at Weber State putting them currently in fifth place, directly behind Northern Arizona.
