KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The postseason accolades continue to pile in for the 2014 Northern Arizona women's soccer team. After a Big Sky Championship, senior defender Sarah Tarver and junior forward Haley Wingender were named to the NSCAA Third Team All-Pacific Region.
The Lumberjacks are just one of three Big Sky schools to have a player named to an All-Pacific Region team.
"This is a well-deserved honor," said Luciano. "Both Haley and Sarah had a fantastic year for us in different capacities. I am happy that they were recognized for their play."
The awards continued to pour in for Wingender as she earned her first Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honor on Oct. 14. The native of Henderson, Nev. was also named First team All-Big Sky after an outstanding season finishing second in the Big Sky in points and goals scored. Wingender set a new school record with seven game-winning goals in one season, previously held by Odorfer in 2008 with five and also led the Big Sky in game-winning goals this season. She is currently tied for fifth all-time in career goals in NAU history with 19. Wingender was also named First Team All-Big Sky by College Sports Madness.
Joining Wingender as a member of the All-Pacific Region Team is senior Sarah Tarver. Tarver earned her first All-Big Sky First Team selection and her third All-Conference Honor overall. The native of Juneau, Alaska earned All-Big Sky conference selections as a forward (2011), an outside back (2013) and this year as a center back. On Sept. 23 this year, Tarver was named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week and the senior has provided great leadership in the backline that allowed a 0.99 goals against average this season. Tarver was also named Second Team All-Big Sky by College Sports Madness.
