KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Northern Arizona women's soccer senior Diane Buzzard had an excellent career at Northern Arizona excelling on the field and thriving in the classroom. For her achievements this past season that ended in a Big Sky title and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, Buzzard was selected to the 2014 NSCAA Women's University Division Scholar All-West Region Team as an honorable mention selection.
Buzzard is just one of six Big Sky players to make the list in a region that featured UCLA, this year's NCAA Runner-up, Stanford, Arizona State and Washington. This is the third postseason award for Buzzard as she was named Big Sky Honorable Mention for her play during the regular season and also making the Big Sky All-Tournament Team for her exceptional play in Montana during Championship weekend. The native of Flagstaff, Ariz. started every game this season and played in every minute for the Lumberjacks at center back.
Out of the 52 players named to the All-West Region Team, Buzzard had the 17th highest GPA in the region. In order to be considered for all-region team, a player must maintain at least a 3.30 grade point average throughout their career as well as start more than 50 percent of all games. Buzzard is majoring in civil engineering and a minor in mathematics. The senior currently holds a 3.72 grade point average and will graduate in May.
