FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona football senior Patrick Baldenegro and women’s basketball senior Rene Coggins were honored as the Golden Eagle Scholar Athletes of the Year on Tuesday during the 39th annual Golden Eagle Awards luncheon. A total of 190 student-athletes across all 15 of NAU’s athletic programs were honored at the High Country Conference Center.
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Northern Arizona women’s soccer team is excited to welcome newest assistant coach Kylie Louw to the Lumberjack family. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Louw comes to NAU with a wealth of knowledge and experience. OGDEN, Utah – Forty Northern Arizona student-athletes from football, volleyball, soccer, and men’s and women’s cross country were named to the Big Sky Fall All-Academic team announced today by the league office.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Arizona University’s NCAA Graduation Success Rate of 84 leads the Big Sky Conference, according to a national report released Tuesday. The NCAA developed the GSR for Division I institutions in 2002 in response to college and university presidents who wanted more accurate graduation data. NAU’s rate is the second-highest in the state of Arizona amongst the Regent institutions.
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team was picked fifth in the Big Sky preseason polls – they finished third. The NAU women’s soccer team lost four of its first five games – they finished the season on an eight-game unbeaten streak. Few expected the NAU women’s soccer team to even qualify for the postseason – they made it to the championship round. The NAU women’s soccer team started the season 1-4 – they finished 5-2 in the final stretch.
CHENEY, Wash. – In the Big Sky Championship game, the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team tied the Eastern Washington Eagles after 120 minutes, but fell in penalty kicks to finish 10-7-5 for the 2016 campaign and barely miss an NCAA Tournament berth. A total of five Lumberjacks made the final ballot, with junior forward Adrian Nixt being named to the First Team. Head Coach Andre Luciano and the Lumberjacks are now 7-7-4 on the year and 4-2-3 in the Big Sky. If Idaho wins today, they will gain sole possession of first place with Eastern Washington and Sacramento State in a tie for second. Regardless of the outcome of Weber State versus Portland State today, Northern Arizona and Montana are next in line in the standings with 15 points apiece.
MOSCOW, Idaho – Coming off a huge victory over Eastern Washington last week (Oct. 16), the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team used this momentum to propel them into yet another tough match at league-leading University of Idaho this afternoon, Oct. 21. The Lumberjacks and Vandals ended in a 2-2 draw, as Idaho scored in the final five seconds of regulation, making it NAU’s sixth overtime match this season. The junior forward scored three goals in NAU’s unbeaten homecoming weekend finishing in a tie versus Montana and taking down the now second place Eastern Washington University Eagles.

After being down 2-0 with less than five minutes to go in regulation, the Lumberjacks notched an incredible comeback scoring in the 86th and 89th minutes to send the game into overtime. GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team, coming off a victory at North Dakota, closed out the weekend up north versus Northern Colorado on the Bears’ home turf. Head Coach Andre Luciano’s squad certainly put up a fight, but fell short at Northern Colorado today, Oct. 9, by a final score of 3-0. The Lumberjacks are now 5-7-2 on the year and 2-2-1 in the Big Sky while the Bears move to 8-5-1 overall and 3-2 in the Big Sky.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Northern Arizona University women’s soccer team notched its second Big Sky win of the season over the University of North Dakota to move to 5-6-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play. Senior forward Lindsay Doyle and junior forward Adrian Nixt both scored for the Lumberjacks this afternoon, Oct. 7, to walk away with a 2-1 victory in Grand Forks. The Fighting Hawks drop to 1-9-2 on the year and 0-4 in the Big Sky.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the 14th consecutive season, the Northern Arizona University women's soccer team has received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award. The Lumberjacks posted a cumulative team grade point average of 3.40 for the 2015-16 academic year.
