Swimming and Diving’s Ardavanis Added to Academic All-WAC List
DENVER, Colo. – Northern Arizona freshman Kristy Ardavanis was added to the Lumberjacks’ list of 12 Academic All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) recipients, the league office announced on Wednesday. Student-athletes must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and participated in at least 50 percent competition to earn the award.

SOMERS, Wis. – Northern Arizona swimmer Fi Connell has been named to the 2010 Division I Mid-Major All-America team, CollegeSwimming.com announced on Tuesday. Connell earned honorable mention honors after reaching NCAA ‘B’ time standards in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - More than 150 student-athletes served as hosts to 140 students from Kinsey and South Beaver elementary schools during National Student Athlete for a Day on Wednesday, April 21 at Northern Arizona University. Swimming and Diving Takes Part in Relay For Life
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona women’s swimming and diving team will participate in “Relay For Life of NAU” this Friday, April 9 in the Walkup Skydome. The event is an initiative by the American Cancer Society to aid in cancer research, education, advocacy, and service. Swimming and diving is one of 75 teams that will stay overnight in the Skydome in an effort to contribute to the cause.

Christensen placed 16th, the highest finish of the four Lumberjack divers to participate in the final day of competition this season at the Zone meet.

Freshman diver Kristi Ardavanis won on both the 1-meter and 3-meter in the diving competition.

BOISE, Idaho – Northern Arizona swimming and diving’s Fi Connell continued her brilliant fall season against Boise State on Friday, but Connell’s performance and wins on both boards from the diving team ultimately fell short as the Lumberjacks were defeated 181.5-114.5. Connell and divers Lana Christensen and Taryn Harris accounted for all six NAU wins.

Connell Breaks Pool Records in 100 and 200 Backstroke, Swimming and Diving Leads till Final Event
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona swimming and diving finished third in the 400 freestyle relay while Washington Stated claimed the top two spots to lift the Cougars to a 149-142 victory in the last event of the day at the Wall Aquatic Center on Friday. The Lumberjacks led the entire meet as Washington State chipped away at the NAU lead and pulled out the come-from-behind win.

Connell Named Verizon Wireless WAC Swimmer of the Week
DENVER, Colo. – Northern Arizona’s Fiona Connell was selected the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference swimmer of the week, the conference announced Tuesday. Connell, in her first collegiate meet, placed first in four events in a double dual meet against New Mexico State and Northern Colorado. Nevada’s Aniesa Debaji was named diver of the week.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Northern Arizona swimming and diving finished 1-1 in a double-dual meet against New Mexico State and Northern Colorado on Saturday at the NMSU Swimming and Diving Complex. The Lumberjacks defeated Northern Colorado 224-75 and narrowly lost to New Mexico State 152-147.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona swimming and diving took part in its final exhibition meet of the 2009-10 season with the Gold team defeating the Blue team 121.5-70.5 at the 27th annual Blue vs. Gold meet at the Wall Aquatic Center on Friday afternoon. The meet was the final tune-up prior to the start of the season in Las Cruces, N.M. against New Mexico State and Northern Colorado on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Campbell swam a time of 1:04.29 in the Lumberjacks first of two exhibitions this fall.
