Two Lumberjacks Finish in Top 16 on First Day of Zone Championships

AUSTIN, Texas – Juniors Taryn Harris and Megan Collier advanced to the final round on  the 1-meter springboard at the 2010 Zone E Regional Championships on Thursday in the Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas.  Harris placed 12th and Collier finished 16th.

“The field was definitely more competitive and deeper this year,” said diving coach Nikki Huffman.  “Taryn did a really nice job.  She just missed one dive in both rounds, but in a competition like this you cannot miss.  Megan dove well in both rounds too.”

“We could have been sharper, but we had a good day and will just try and be better tomorrow,” Huffman said.

All four Lumberjacks will compete on Friday, March 12 on 3-meter at the Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.  The preliminary round is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (MST) and the finals will take place at 1:45 p.m. (MST).
