Swimming & Diving Enters 2010-11 Season with 15th Annual Pentathlon

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona swimming and diving team opens the fall season with the 15th annual Pentathlon at the Wall Aquatic Center on Friday, October 1 at 2 p.m.  The Lumberjack women will compete in five individual events.

Lumberjack swimmers take part in five events during the Pentathlon, the 200-meter IM, 100-meter butterfly, 100-meter backstroke, 100-meter breaststroke, and 100-meter freestyle.  The women compete as individuals in a point-based system.  Points are assigned based on the times earned in each event.

Last year, Fi Connell won the event as a freshman finishing with 3,970 points and two event wins in the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke.

Friday's meet will be the first of two exhibition competitions for the Lumberjacks before the start of the regular season.  The women put on the annual Blue and Gold Meet on Friday, October 15 before opening the regular season at the Vandal Relays on November 11.
