LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Northern Arizona diving swept 3-meter in the first day of competition at the UNLV Diving Invitational on Friday. The women finished with top five finishes out of twelve divers competing against UNLV and Air Force.
The Lumberjack divers have posted top performances all season long and continued their run on Friday taking first, second, third, fourth, and fifth place finishes on Friday.
Sophomore Kristi Ardavanis won 3-meter by scoring 297.25 points followed by seniors Taryn Harris and Lana Christensen. Harris placed just behind Ardavanis with 290.35 points while Christensen turned in a score of 279.85.
Junior Cassie Anderson finished fourth with 269.05 points and senior Megan Collier rounded out the top five with 248.50 points. Junior Holly Frost placed eighth, 244.20, ensuring all six Lumberjack divers placed inside the top 10.
"I wouldn't say we were on fire," said head coach Nikki Huffman. "We have had better scores throughout the year but we had really good consistent diving for the most part. There were some great tops, and we missed some bottoms but had good consistent dives throughout the lineup. We need to work on a few things but all in all they did well and see what they need to do to get ready for the conference championships."
The women compete on 1-meter Saturday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. in the Buchanan Natatorium.
