Christensen Places 11th on Three Meter, Diving Team Continues Zone Meet Friday

Day 1 Results

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Senior Lana Christensen finished 11th on the 3-meter springboard in the first day of competition at the 2011 NCAA Zone E Regionals at the Minnesota Aquatics Center on Thursday.  The Lumberjacks six divers will compete on 1-meter Friday at 10 a.m.

Christensen turned in a score of 554.05 ending the day as the top finisher for NAU.  The senior from Casper, Wyo., duplicated her performance on 3-meter placing in the same spot a year ago.

"All in all it was a good day for us," said diving coach Nikki Huffman.  "Lana did a great job.  We had just a couple misses but at Zones you really need have a full set of quality dives."

The Lumberjacks had five other divers compete on 3-meter on Thursday.

Senior Megan Collier finished behind Christensen in 26th place with a score of 241.25.  Senior Taryn Harris followed in 31st place scoring 231.75.

Junior Holly Frost ended up 36th while sophomore Kristy Ardavanis placed just behind her in 37th.  Junior Cassie Anderson rounded out the Lumberjack finishers in 47th.

The NAU diving team will compete on 1-meter Friday at 10 a.m.  The event will be the final competition for the Lumberjacks at this year's Zones.

"We have the 1-meter tomorrow and are looking forward to improving on today's results," Huffman said.  "This is our last day since we are not competing on platform so hopefully we can put up some good scores."
