  • NAU Sits Top 10 Nationally Academically, Individuals Receive CSCAA Recognition

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving team once again ranks among the top teams in the nation academically, receiving Scholar All-America Team honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Tuesday. The Lumberjacks finished the spring 2015 semester with a 3.58 cumulative GPA, tied for 10th-highest in the country with Penn State and Southern Illinois.
  • NAU Student-Athletes Give Back in Record Numbers During 2014-15 Year

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Last year, Northern Arizona University student-athletes performed an incredible 4,378 total community service hours setting a new department record. During the 2014-15 academic year, Lumberjack student-athletes outdid themselves resetting the record with over 5,000 hours out in the Flagstaff community and the greater Northern Arizona region in an outstanding department-wide effort to give back.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – In total, 42 Northern Arizona University student-athletes will receive their degrees from the university this weekend during the Spring 2015 commencement ceremonies held on campus yesterday and today. Including the 21 student-athletes who participated in the Fall 2014 commencement ceremonies, the NAU Athletics Department produced a total of 63 graduates for the 2014-15 academic year.

  • Huffman Named Inaugural Recipient of Outstanding Student Success Coach Award

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – A six-time conference Diving Coach of the Year known for leading one of the most competitive diving programs in the western United States, Northern Arizona diving coach Nikki Huffman has also been a leader and mentor for many other NAU students. On Friday, Huffman was rewarded for her work outside of the pool as the inaugural recipient of the Outstanding Student Success Coach by NAU's University College during the Undergraduate Symposium in the Walkup Skydome.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – What was once considered a thin area of depth as recent as last year, the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team bolstered their sprint freestyle crew with the National Letter of Intent signing of Logan Neal. Head coach Andy Johns announced the signing of Neal, a Hillsboro, Ore. product, on Wednesday.

    MESA, Ariz. – Northern Arizona swimming & diving sophomore Urte Kazakeviciute and freshman Alina Staffeldt competed as unattached competitors at last week's Arena Pro Swim Series Mesa at the Skyline Aquatic Center. The pair faced fierce competition in the star-studded four-day event which included a number of Olympic medalists from in the United States as well as overseas.

For 12-year Emma Warner, she lives by swimming and because of her passion for the pool she has continued to knock cancer right in the mouth without skipping a beat.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – On Wednesday, NAU’s brightest student-athletes were honored at the 37th annual Golden Eagle Awards held at the High Country Conference Center. The annual luncheon recognizes Northern Arizona University’s student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average in the classroom. Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc., honored 191 Lumberjack student-athletes for their scholastic and athletic accomplishments.

The important Student-Athlete for a Day returned for the first time in three years and was a fun-filled day for both the Lumberjack student-athletes and the local youth.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving season came to an end on Tuesday with junior Chelsea Jackson and sophomore Alexa Geiger wrapping up the NCAA Zone E Diving Championship at the Air Force Academy. In Tuesday's 1-meter springboard competition, Jackson placed 15th overall while Geiger narrowly missed the finals and placed 27th in the preliminaries.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior Chelsea Jackson advanced to the 3-meter finals on the first day of the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships and finished 18th overall for the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team. Sophomore Alexa Geiger placed 42nd in the preliminary round on Monday at the competition held at the Air Force Academy.

The Lumberjack duo will compete in a field of nearly 60 divers from around the region for a chance to extend their seasons even further at the national meet.

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The repeat is sweet. After another dominating final day in San Antonio, the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team can call themselves back-to-back champions after rising above their competition to win their second consecutive Western Athletic Conference championship. Also for the second straight year, head coach Andy Johns was named the WAC Women's Coach of the Year.

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving team stacked a total of 19 athletes into the Day 3 finals at the WAC Championships, but no result was bigger than freshman Alina Staffeldt's record breaking performance en route to winning the 100 butterfly. Behind Staffeldt's swim, the Lumberjacks will head into the final day of the championships one step closer to a conference repeat in first place with 478 points, ahead of New Mexico State who is at 383 points.

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Junior Chelsea Jackson finally captured her elusive first individual WAC title to highlight Day 2 of the WAC Championships as the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team moved into first place in the team standings at the halfway point of the meet. Jackson's win on 3-meter earned the Flagstaff local her first career gold medal.
  • Divers Pace the Way to Second-Place Start at WAC Championships

    SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving team felt they had the deepest group of divers in the Western Athletic Conference and that proved to be the case on the opening day of the 2015 WAC Championships. Junior Chelsea Jackson finished runner-up, her best career conference finish, in the 1-meter finals as NAU occupied half of the finals field. Behind the Lumberjack divers' performance, the team finished the day in second place with 89 points. Northern Colorado leads with 100 points.
  • Swimming & Diving Receives Scholar All-America Team Distinction

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – On the eve of the 2015 WAC Championships, the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team was honored as a 2014 Fall Scholar All-American Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Lumberjacks posted a semester GPA of 3.50 for the fall semester which was tied for 17th in the country among the nation's swimming & diving programs.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – For years, the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team were the hunters at the Western Athletic Conference Championships. This week, the Lumberjacks will be in a different position for the first time in school history. As the defending champions, NAU will instead be the hunted – the team with the target on its back – as it sets its sights on bringing back the hardware to Flagstaff for the second consecutive season.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. & LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving team completed their regular season on Saturday with a dual meet against the University of Wyoming. The swimmers competed against the Cowgirls, as well as host UNLV in an unscored meet, in Las Vegas while the divers wrapped up competition at the Air Force Diving Invitational. Despite strong efforts in the pool and on the boards, NAU fell to a high quality Wyoming squad .

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Junior Chelsea Jackson was one of three Northern Arizona divers to capture season-best scores on platform at the Air Force Diving Invitational. In just the team's second – and final – appearance on platform this season before the WAC Championships, Jackson placed a team-best 12th in the event on Friday, the first of two days for NAU at the competitive invite.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving team will have one final opportunity to compete before next month's Western Athletic Conference Championships this weekend in separate meets. The divers will spend Friday and Saturday at the Air Force Diving Invitational, while the swimmers will compete in a double-dual against UNLV and Wyoming in Las Vegas on Saturday.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving team proved there's no place better than home as they cruised to a 142-93 victory over Northern Colorado on Wednesday, winning nine of the 11 scored events. Senior Caitlin Wright and freshman Claire Hammond each won a pair of events as the Lumberjacks won the first five events in a dominating performance in their first dual meet in the Wall Aquatic Center in a month.

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Since last competing at home on Dec. 6, the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team has spent the last month well-traveled. From Las Vegas to San Diego to Tucson, the Lumberjacks have endured through two training camps, a three-day invitational and a pair of dual meets making their return home all the more welcomed. On Wednesday, NAU will host WAC opponent Northern Colorado in the Wall Aquatic Center at 4 p.m. in the team's final home meet of the season.

    TUCSON, Ariz. – Facing far from ideal conditions, the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team persevered and nearly posted an upset in their double dual versus No. 14 Arizona and Oregon State on Friday at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center. The Lumberjacks were denied the victory against the Beavers as Oregon State rallied in the final two events to prevail 148-146 against a feisty NAU squad. NAU also fell to the Wildcats, 191-102.
  • 'Jacks Start End of Season Tune-Up Friday with Pac-12 Double Dual

    FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving team will begin the 2015 year – and stretch run towards the WAC Championships – on Friday in Tucson with a double dual against No. 14 Arizona and Oregon State. The double dual versus the two Pac-12 schools will serve as the team's finale of their week of training in Tucson.
  • Swim & Dive Picks Up Ninth Straight Win Over San Diego

    SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Northern Arizona swimming & diving team completed their stay in Southern California with a 151-108 dual meet victory over the University of San Diego on Saturday, capping a productive week of training camp and ending the 2014 calendar year on a high note. The Lumberjacks won eight of the 14 events in posting their ninth straight dual win over the Torreros in the team's first meeting since the 2009-10 season.
