DENVER, Colo. – The Northern Arizona divers have excelled to start the season and senior Alexa Geiger has been a part of the unit's success. For her performances in helping NAU dispatch Idaho last Saturday, Geiger was named the WAC Diver of the Week on Tuesday for the fourth time in her career.
Geiger, the reigning WAC Diver of the Year, earned her first weekly award this season following season-best scores against the Vandals. Having already previously qualified for the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships the week prior, Geiger upped her scores to 310.65 on 1-meter and 319.72 on 3-meter in NAU's 172.5-126.5 victory over Idaho.
The Fullerton, Calif. product was part of NAU's diving contingent that placed first, second and fourth in both springboard events. She won the 1-meter event for the second consecutive week – having previously won the event against New Mexico – and then placed second on 3-meter.
She is the third Lumberjack to receive weekly recognition from the conference office and is the second straight NAU diver to earn the WAC's top diver award following sophomore Christina Torrente last week. Junior Alina Staffeldt has twice been named the WAC Swimmer of the Week.
Geiger and the rest of the NAU divers will compete at home in the Lumberjack Diving Invitational next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18-19. The two-day invite will be held in the Aquatic and Tennis Complex.
