NORFOLK, Va. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) once again recognized the Northern Arizona swimming & diving team's exceptional academic performance with a Scholar All-America Team distinction on Wednesday. The award is in recognition of teams that achieve a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
For the fall semester, the Lumberjacks cleared the 3.0 minimum requirement with ease, posting a team semester GPA of 3.41. NAU edged out Arizona State (3.39), while Arizona missed the list completely. NAU was one of a record 638 men's and women's teams representing 394 institutions to receive the Scholar All-America Team award.
In addition, the 'Jacks extended their streak of carrying at least a 3.20 grade point average at the end of every semester since spring 2006.
The three-time defending WAC champions will compete this weekend for the final time before heading off to Houston, Texas for the conference championships at the end of February.
