TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona swept doubles and all-six singles matches in a dominant performance as the No. 49 Wildcats scored a 7-0 victory over Northern Arizona in both teams season opener Friday in Tucson.

The Cats jumped on NAU early in posting a sweep of the three doubles matches. Seniors Yumi Hasegawa and Edit Suhajda battled at the No. 3 position before eventually bowing to Arizona's Debora Castany and Lacey Smyth, 8-6, in the closest doubles match.

In singles play, Suhajda, ranked No. 20 in the ITA Mountain region, got off to a good start before falling to Wildcat junior Natasha Marks, 6-2, 6-0. Fellow junior Orsi Golovics also started well at No. 2 before dropping a 6-3, 6-0 decision while the Wildcats would notch 6-0 first sets en route to easy wins at both No. 3 and 4. NAU sophomore Nicole Perez had the most success at No. 5, falling by scores of 6-3 and 6-2 to Arizona's Jane Huh. A 6-1, 6-0 Wildcat win at No. 6 would complete a clean sweep for the home team.
