Women’s Tennis' Box Earns Mountain Region Ranking

SKILLMAN, N.J. – In just her first fall season at Northern Arizona, women's tennis sophomore transfer Emelia Box earned a spot on the ITA Mountain Region Ranking. Box was ranked 20th in the Mountain Region among the best players and schools in the Mountain West such as UNLV, Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico.

The transfer from North Texas is just one of two Big Sky players to make the ITA Mountain Region Top 20 Ranking after an excellent fall schedule. Box was able to pick up a win in the most challenging fall tournament this season at the ITA Mountain Region Championships and got a win in every invite this fall.

Head coach Kim Bruno will rely heavily on Box this year that is projected to compete for the Lumberjacks at the No. 1 & 2 position. The native from England is one of the most experienced players on Northern Arizona despite being a sophomore transfer and will be one of the leaders for the Lumberjacks this season.

Box and the Lumberjacks were picked to finish third in the Big Sky Conference this season right behind Montana and defending Big Sky Champions, Sacramento State. Bruno and her squad will begin their quest towards a Big Sky title on January 18th when they face in-state opponent Arizona State.
