FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After facing Arizona State last weekend down in Tempe, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team will now travel to face another in-state opponent this weekend in the University of Arizona. This will be just the third match this season for the Lumberjacks as they played a double header last weekend against ASU. Senior Tatum Rochin and junior Johanna Vang were the only players to pick up a win in doubles or singles last week as the duo defeated Ebony Panoho and Joanna Smith from ASU.
Coach Bruno Quote of the Week
"The team is looking forward to competing this weekend against UofA," said Bruno. "UofA is an experienced team so we need to be ready to compete at our highest level."
Sister Act Returns Home
For the second time in Northern Arizona women's tennis history, the Lumberjacks have two sisters playing together at NAU. Senior Tatum Rochin and freshman Hailey Rochin will share the court together this season in hopes of bringing the Lumberjacks back to the Big Sky Championships. The Tucson natives will get the chance to play in their hometown this weekend in front of their friends and family. Bruno's roster is filled with a lot of young talent and only has one senior on the roster in Tatum. Tatum is coming off a stellar season last year where she was undefeated in Big Sky play, going 7-0 at the No. 7 slot. Hailey made great strides in her first fall season at Northern Arizona and will be a key contributor for the Lumberjacks in her freshman campaign.
