Rochin's Last Home Match for Women’s Tennis This Weekend

Northern Arizona (7-14, 6-2 Big Sky) vs. Sacramento State (9-12, 7-0 Big Sky)

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After clinching a spot in this year's Big Sky Championships, the Northern Arizona women's tennis team will now look to improve their seeding this weekend against top-seeded Sacramento State. This will be the final home match for the Lumberjacks and the team will honor lone senior Tatum Rochin who will be playing in her final home match.

Series History

NAU and Sacramento State will be meeting for the 24th time. Last season, the Hornets came away with the 5-2 win in Sacramento.

"We are going into this match with two tough conference wins. We are confident because we know we can compete with any team. It is an opportunity to knock off a great team at home so we have to play unbelievable tennis because we know what is ahead of us."   

Lumberjacks Clinch a Spot in Big Sky Championships

The Lumberjacks swept its Big Sky road trip last weekend against Weber State and Idaho State which propelled NAU into the Big Sky Championships. Hailey Rochin's win in singles against the Bengals not only clinched the match for the Lumberjacks, but it also secured Northern Arizona's spot in the tournament. Currently, Bruno's squad sits in a tie with Northern Colorado for third place with two conference matches left in the season.

Tatum Rochin's Senior Day

Before Sunday's match against Sacramento State, the Lumberjacks will honor lone senior Tatum Rochin who will play in her final match in Flagstaff. The senior from Tucson, Ariz. has been a great captain for this year's squad as she been able to mentor the five newcomers to this year's squad including her younger sister, Hailey. Currently, Tatum has 12 career singles wins and 12 doubles victories.
